RoboCoffee The 9xxm series was the last mobile gpus from Nvidia, as far as I know. There are laptops with 1060s, 1070s and 1080s available and they carry the same specs as the ones used in desktops. I don't know if the chips are exactly the same tho.

I can't wait for the 1050ti based laptops if the 1060 ones are any indication. Should be able to cram one into a fairly slim form factor for a good price. Mobile GPUs appear to be a thing of the past.

Ben Phone Nothing like used hardware for value. It's sad that value chips like that APU (I'm guessing it's an APU) have such a poor price to performance ratio. I paid about $20 for an old Sandy bridge HP at an auction.. I put a 970 and an i5 in it and now it's my daily driver.
@centurybug
@centurybug 7 жыл бұрын
***** really? Where I am it's easy to find Q6600s for around $15. I have an old (ivy) i5 and it's frustrating how many things are tied to single core performance which my chip is weak in .. I think you made the right choice with that Pentium.

@kamitenchi1649 7 жыл бұрын
I really don't think an x5650 or 2670 is faster than a 4790k when it comes to gaming. The X5650 is old and doesn't have the same level of instructions nor speed. Skylake and Kabylake are also faster with their top i7s. I know the post is old, but even at the time ryzen 7 was superior. So, no your old xeons are not faster. On top of that, they could only go toe to toe with a 4770k in terms of multitasking, not single core performance. So, you are highly exaggerating that.

As the user of an e3 1220 and an i3 7100 system, I can tell you certainly that the old xeons are really capable. While yea, against a $350 i7 it is obviously going to lose, it's actually faster than my brand new system.

I had a Phenom II TWKR several years ago. I got it in a pile of parts that I bought from a guy, along with a 4890 and a computer desk. It ran hot and took a lot of voltage, so was impractical for me. I sold it for good money. I also acquired an Athlon II X2 engineering sample that was clocked at a higher speed than any of those released at retail, in the same transaction. The guy used to work for AMD.

Another rare chip is the Xeon X5698, a Super Super clocked core i3. It is dual core with HT on LGA1366 and runs at 4.4 GHz stock and boosts to 4.53 or 4.66 GHz with a 130W TDP. According to CPU world, it was only sold to Dell and HP for their high end servers. It pops out once in a while on eBay for an obscene amount of money. I've been lucky to order one on Alibaba for 150 CAD. It will arrive later this month. If you want to do a video on it, I can gladly provide help! Keep up your good work!

The reason the higher clocked Athlon xp+ cpu was the FSB was run at 333 not 400mhz so clock speed was boosted slightly to compensate. I have a 3000+ with a 333mhz bus, this was another weird oem chip as most 3000+ were 400mhz bus.

IIRC, the i7-880 was pretty rare even though it's showing up on Ebay now for under $150. The best I could do at the time was pick up a new i7-870 to step up from the 750. I was able to get about 3.2 GHz on air in a cramped HTPC box. Been running like a champ for over 5 years even after enduring a lightning strike that fried the Ethernet port. Plopped in a new GbE NIC and a cheap nVidia card, and it's strictly a HTPC.

Ey I have a 3200+, it's in a custom system though but I think its at 2.4 GHz though I could be wrong as I haven't booted the system in years. The reason I bring this up is that the manufacturers could have just overclocked the CPU slightly, perhaps just for a tiny bit of extra performance or they just didn't wan't to waste cooling.

AMD has a couple of HP-only desktop CPUs for Socket FM2+: FX-670K and FX-770K. They are the same as their Athlon X4 counterparts (APUs w/o GPU), but have the FX branding instead. There is also an extremely rare Opteron 4145 for Socket C32, which has 4 cores clocked at 3.5 GHz. Intel has the not-so-rare dual-core 4.4 GHz Xeon X5698 for LGA1366, and a practically-nonexistent, custom-made 6-core Ivy Bridge Xeon for LGA2011, clocked at 4.6 GHz but without Hyper Threading.

Playing Tomb Raider I see! Just started it myself. I have to say I'm exceptionally impressed with how well optimized it is. It looks fantastic and runs great even on my GT-650m. Actually I'm also impressed that the controls are also good enough that I can play it on the TV with a controller and not want to kill myself because I'm not using a mouse. They seriously put a lot of time in to refine this title. Beautiful smooth framerates with a 0.65 Tflop GPU, who would have thunk?

I had a C2D E8500 it ran really hot and stuff but the per core perf was better than quad cores in its day so for a while it served its purpose i even did cad on it though admittedly the whole thing didn't last very long because of how hard I was pushing it

i had an amd xp 3000+ that had an open multiplier and ran on 333mhz fsb. so i could set it to the same clockspeed as the 3200+ with the same fsb but 2.33ghz. i decided to let it run on 400mhz fsb and lowered the multi so it would run at 2.2ghz. which had a slight performance advantage over the 2,33ghz model

My personal favorite oddity was the Intel Xeon X5698; the 4.4GHz hyper-threaded dual core Westmere chip only sold to OEM builders. The chip isn't mentioned on Intel's website, and seems to be incredibly rare. These were apparently cherry picked 6-cores that had 4 cores disabled. Last I checked, they still fetch a hefty price on eBay when they come up for sale. They were the fastest clocked chip in the world until AMD's Steamroller FX chips stole the crown. For the record, the Intel chip is still faster than the FX chips...

I have a Athlon 64 1500+ single core 1ghz 64bit 9w tdp socket 754 that's pretty rare as it's from HP blade servers that seem to be rarely parted

My computer currently has an AMD FX 770K; which is an OEM only CPU. The AMD FX 770K roughly matches the speed of an AMD Athlon X4 860K. The AMD FX 770K can be bought off of eBay used for roughly $60 - $70 USD. In roughly a month or so; I'm getting the AMD Athlon X4 845. The AMD Athlon X4 845 is roughly 15% faster than the AMD FX 770K; so It'll be a nice upgrade.

Oh yeah, I just read about a CPU on a Chinese forum. It said " Intel Blackops 6 Core 4.6GHz" on it. It is like an intel version of the FX9590. Only less than a few hundred were leaked.

I sold an old Biostar cube on eBay in mid 2007 with an Athlon xp3200 and received a few msgs asking about the frequency. Now I know why. I paid about £120 for it originally I believe. Sold the whole unit for £50.

I'm nearly positive I've seen e8700's. My sister got a stack of C2D computers from an auction, and I'm pretty sure one desktop had an e8700. I am still using a e8400, and it's tough for as old as it is.

What do you mean by slant? Like leans down? If so, you can just tighten the screws on the io for slot.

Interesting. I remember buying Athlon XP 3200+ right before it disappeared from stores and then being confused about strange clock settings.
