If you think I’m capable when it comes to engineering, you might be surprised when I say it doesn’t come close to my ability to procrastinate my engineering. I have created businesses while procrastinating engineering. I have travelled the world while procrastinating engineering. And of course, I also engineer things, while procrastinating engineering. This is not the first time, and certainly wont be the last, but I’m never disappointed by these procrastinatory quests.

Steve Mould recently did a video on a similar subject relating to balls entering a cylinder, looping around, then actually popping back out instead of falling into the hole (think golf balls). He found that old mouse balls worked the best for demonstration, because they're heavy steel balls, which allows them to maintain their momentum through the curve, and they're rubber-coated, which gives them enough traction to follow the wall of the cylinder without slipping. My point is, if you had a way to increase the friction between the balls in your procrastination contraption and the inner wall of the tube, you might get longer, more-satisfying descents, allowing you to procrastinate that much longer. Now to get back to what I was doing before I noticed you'd posted a new short! 😅

The more of my duties I automate, the more time I have to work on things I'm actually interested in that don't bore me. Plus, it's way more fun for me to design and execute the automation than to do the rote task by hand, and I gain more experience along the way. Pretty soon, people notice that you tend to get things done ridiculously quickly. (Or really slowly at first, if the automation takes a long time to get right.) "But we don't have time to automate that." Yet you have time to do something that requires rework over and over due to human error? It's a mindset.
