I'm sincerely curious how any highschool got to do this musical. It's got so many potentially offensive characters and situations ; the theater department must have compromising pictures of the entire school board. A+ for balls out bravery . Great job all round.

I doubt they had to have blackmail to do it - LOL The show itself having been written by Mel Brooks is considered an insult not to Jews, etc. , but to the bigots and haters who still believe that c**p about the Jews - or any ethnic group. Considering the amount of talent - vocal/dance and TAP!! that was shown - I have an idea this could be a performing arts HS ... all the videos of this production I've seen so far have been amazing ...

but the whole idea of the film is that the musical within it is deliberately insulting, so as to make as much of a loss possible.

The whole point about the show - original movie, broadway musical and movie remake - is to make fun of the nazis. everyone and everything but especially the nazis. If people laugh at them no-one can take them seriously so they'll never be that powerful again.Mel Brooks himself (birth name Melvin Kaminsky) is jewish and also served in the last few years of ww2.
