When I get into a depressed state, Springsteen music like this, just puts me into another place, I owe my life to Mr.Springsteen I really do, so looking forward to him returning to Western Australia again, until then stay safe my friend.

My favorite. These are not his deepest lyrics, instrumentally it’s not the most complex, but damn does it cheer me up and give me a positive mood every single time. And what’s even more, it made me believe as well that there is a Promised Land.

Legends are born once and their music is reborn - everytime they are remembered. My memories with Bruce Springsteen have been from my childhood days from 1980s and to date his songs are now apart of the music legacy that my children carry from me. May Bruce live long enough to inspire the future generations across the world..

There is scripture in the Bible that speaks about when God gets really angry and visits the earth with fierce weather and all of the things that Bruce describes in this song. He treats the whole world with that intense fury. He is looking down and the conditions on Earth are not what he created. He speaks and causes pure rain to fall, and it nourishes our planet. His heart is broken when he sees how badly we have messed up this planet. Thank God for "The Promised Land"

I love watching both older and newer videos. No matter what the setting (whether an empty theater or a venue filled with thousands) Bruce gives it a bazillion percent; and if the band is backing him they do the same. I agree with another commenter. “Badlands” and “The Promised Land” are two of my favorites; and even though Darkness is deliberately about the darker aspects of life and humanity I think these two songs have become anthems to help all of us rise above the darkness. It’s now become a bucket list item for me to see a show live if I can be so lucky when touring is possible again. Thank you Bruce!

The Promised Land, is a land for hearts thirsting for freedom. The Promised Land, is a land for souls hungry for life. The Promised Land, is a land where the healing of timelessness flows. The Promised Land is a land where all people can live, rejoice, dance and sing. The Promised Land, is a release for imprisoned minds. For the whole universe, the heart's dream and the heaven of eternity, is The Promised Land.

not long after "Darkness on the edge of town" was released Bruce started talking about re-recording this album. He felt like the band kind of underperformed. 30 Years later this live performance happened. But you can't bring back time. What's done is done. I like it the way that the Darkness Album sounds. It's unique. It can't be better because it's perfect the way it is.

The band was mourning the death of Daniel Federici (keyboardist) (January 23, 1950 - April 17, 2008) Everyone dressed in black, This was in honor of him. This was his fav album. Danny was best known as the organ, and accordion player and a founding member. Proceeds from this screening are donated to the Danny Fund/Melanoma Research Alliance - a non-profit foundation devoted to advancing melanoma research and awareness set up after the 2008 passing of Danny Federici, longtime Springsteen friend and E-Street Band member.

You can put in a little bit of effort and make a song that will be a huge success for a couple of months, or you can put your guts into a song and have it live on for decades. Bruce chose the latter

I've always considered "Badlands" and "The Promised Land" to sort of be a matched set of songs. They are the lead tracks on the opposite sides of "Darkness" and it seems to me I saw them a number of times paired together in concert to fire up the crowd. This video convinces me that "Badlands" truest character is as a live song that works the crowd into an unbelievable frenzy live, but "The Promised Land" works most effectively as a song where the musicianship takes center stage. Hearing them perform it live here without an audience really reveals the emotional power of this song. (Of course, you can't go wrong with either in concert, but that's just an observation from this video.)

Could not agree more. From Bruce on harmonica to Little Steven on guitar to of course Clarence on saxophone this cut is my favorite song on Darkness.
