Maybe you've heard Ken Tamplin say "the proof is in the singing"...? (think he really means "the proof is in the hot chicks miming" haha! Just kidding, I'm sure they sang the songs, but the videos on his channel are 100% them miming - don't be naive!)... anywayyyyyyyz.... Since I'm a professional singer, I thought I would 'retort' with some "proof" of my own. Like it or hate it, I still get paid to do it, so I'm livin' the dream, and I feel so grateful and lucky to be able to to live MY DREAM. As someone who's been working hard for years to improve my voice, it's definitely hard to compete when folks put up so many "polished" performances. Yeah, some folks are better at live singing and do it nearly flawless, but the human voice is an imperfect instrument and even the best have off moments. I also had Ken's program when I first started working to improve, and it was not for me.

Yes,I’ve tried Ken’s lessons many years ago by myself, however ended up studying with Seth Riggs anyway. Seth was the one that opened me up. Jim is good for motivation btw.

Agree with you on the “polished performance” aspect. I question why they put so much effort to make them “perfect” (perfection is when we try to get the world to believe something we don’t even believe ourselves). What was it about Ken’s program that you didn’t like or what would you do to make it better?

@@RockYourBestVocals Well, overall I think if you know what you're doing, Ken doesn't have necessarily "bad" information. But for beginners it's very confusing and hard to follow. I first bought v1.0 and then upgraded to 2.0 (this was years ago). I still have the files and reference them occasionally. Version 2.0 is definitely better. His exercises are okay but they are tedious and boring after awhile. He wants you to warm up for an hour. The exercises also are not very focused as far as range. In v1.0 he talks more about the pelvic muscles for support and in 2.0 he changes it to more stomach pumping, which in my years of trying that just does not work for me. I find it's better to just breathe low and support in the pelvic floor area, keeping the ribs open. Another thing that I have a hard time with is the vowel modifications. There's a word for it, but he wants you to change the vowel completely instead of just slightly changing the shape of the vowel, which to me feels more natural. A lot of more reputable teachers explain to keep the vowels as pure as possible, but of course with that shape changing in the back of your throat, there is going to be an alteration, but just not that extreme. Ken's exercises caused me to yell and also "splat" my vowels. I was opening too wide and afterwards I learned to focus the vowels which really helped my tone. I also took classes with Melissa Cross starting in 2020 and that REALLY helped me. I couldn't afford the 1:1 lessons with her (I mean look at who she teaches) but her classes definitely helped me more than anything else.

Hi, She certainly has a great voice, but I try to stick with the male voices because of my personal style... When I want to learn to sing like someone I just listen over and over - trying to hear the little nuances of their voice and pick out the phrasing and where they are 'placing' their voice. Hope that helps you... just keep listening to her over and over and try to mimic as best you can!

I think I agree. The songs are well recorded. I believe the girls and odd boy sang the songs. But not live. It’s a finished recording. And they lip sync to their own voice. Saying that, I guess we can’t always guarantee the proof is in a “live” performance can we? Many have lio synced live as well! 😂

I didn’t see any signs of Ken Templin not signing his live songs live. We might talk about the "overall impression", but to me it would be just a talk. He has strange performance vibe but I don’t see a reason to doubt the performance. Can you name the particular facts that he is mimicking?

Most videos he is in front of a studio mic are NOT live, it’s him playing up for the camera… and also MOST if not all the girl ones are most surely not them singing live… unless you have done both types of singing (live and studio) you prob won’t know… LIVE singing with a band in front of a crowd is 100% different from studio recording

@@RockYourBestVocals I don’t see any signs of mimicking. And yes, I have 20 years of experience in both, studio mostly, vocal production and live performances in my country, Ukraine. I agree that the guy has something strange to him but I’ve seen a lot of vocalists that sang that nice right from the studio door. Please give the exact signs, not the overall assumption. Or come to me so I will record your vocal in a way that everyone will think it’s mimicking (with preproduction ofc) ;) you are very very good,so it will be no big deal
