Thank you !!! I'm a young 22 year old male. Learning plumbing from drains first and sprouting my knowledge from videos like these. I've been doing drains for 2 years and always wondered how you replace those.

I do the same thing. Gut the angle stop, sweat it off,and replace escutcheon if you can. Then replace angle stop with compression type! Good job 👍

I just did the same thing today. So smart removing the stem, much quicker because you don't have that water built up.

2 questions please. What is the purpose of tapping on the valve while heating it up? Also, why not install new 1/4 turn valves? Thanks.

Hey Tim, what other way or tool can you use to take off the old ring without the blowtorch? Thanks! Great video!
@everythinghomerepair17472 жыл бұрын
You can use a tubing cutter if you have enough room. Also, you should consider rebuilding the valve with a simple kit they sell at the store. That way you don’t have to remove the valve at all.

when the copper pipe stub out is long i just cut the pipe and install the angle stop without taking the angle stop apart
@iranewton84162 жыл бұрын
Great job Tim, Nice time to also change out the escutcheon if you have them. Clean and sand is a great lesson so that the Ferrell can bite into the pipe and if you Would rather use a shark bite angle stop.

How is that drain pipe not leaking where it goes into the wall? It looks like there's a plastic nut missing, it could be glued but there are clearly male threads in plain sight.
@PLUMBINGWITHTIM2 жыл бұрын
Someone glued it in lol

Should have replaced the escutcheons
@d.ricc64212 жыл бұрын
Why don't you leave the knob on the angle stop and just turn the packing nut. This way you can use the knob to turn it if it's seized alittle. Just my thought as a useless motion.

If you’re a KZbin plumber, you better look out cause you’re gonna flood some s**t. This is just a warning all you people with your comments so obvious you don’t know Jack just be careful. (you don’t know what you are doing)

Have you used or have any thoughts on sharkbites brass push-to-connect valves vs soldering/brazing? Have you used or thought about adding an induction heating tool to your tool kit for copper soldering/brazing vs flame? kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJXEhZWZfL6tnbM

Never cool your hot valve in the toilet bowl, especially with that little water. I have seen a fellow plumber do this and it caused a crack in the toilet. Be a little more careful please, these videos are formatted as how-to videos and I quite enjoy your channel. At least issue a disclaimer.
@Resist_JWO_19843 ай бұрын
It's a shame that in order to save yourself 20 cents, you're not using quarter turn. 👎

dope and tape is unnecessary on the threads

I use megaloc on my treads and ferrel and you could say it unnecessary but , it lubricants it and keeps it from binding and seizing. I didn't use to use megaloc but I learned from another great old timer plumber many years ago. If you try it you may continue using it.
