Actually, since everything we've been taught about vampires is the sensationalized mythology built up in entertainment (books and movies), rather than on the old wives' tales from Romania and nearby countries, it's highly doubtful that any of the rules we "know" are true. Then again, the old wives tales themselves are so erratic, inconsistent, and vague that there isn't any "real" rules. That might have something to do with how vampires aren't real, but you never know.

Ah, the old type polite vampire. My question : what about a haunted hotel? I mean basically there are "public area" and "private area". Since most part of a house is considered private area, only maybe the living room is public or semi Public. What about hotel? A vampire need to ask for permission for each room? Can he wander along the hallways? Roam around, except for bathroom stalls (semi private) but he can wander up to the stall door? He can roam around the lobby, and the receptionist, but can't enter the staff room without permission? So he is a "permanent maybe non paying guest" in the hotel, until someone able to kick him out? But then again hotel is considered "more open" compared to a house, would that mean he can enter again?
