500 years ago oil did probably seep to the surface here and there possibly, not a expert not sure but they certainly did not know how to refine separate and sell it, at the Beginning they used to separate the diesel and petroleum and used to throw one of the 2 liquids away wasting it, until they discovered a use for it, I cannot remember which liquid was wasted petroleum or Diesel at beginning. Arabs used to receive Aid of Food etc from Indian charities less than 100 years ago. Thankyou
