She doesn't 180 into a different person, but she is scared of her traits being unlikeable, and pulls down some of her walls. So does he, but in a super different way. i like even in the opening scene when she is firing the guy, she didn't just can him for underperforming, she caught him out in a lie. sure the delivery was harsh but honestly?? why shouldn't she be with that kind of behavior. her treatment toward actually good workers is what's more problematic, and she grows in that regard by the end of the film. i agree that it's a very refreshing take on the "strict woman boss" archetype

I get why people call her a “witch”, but part of me says that it is a double standard because if males in her position acted like this, they would be immediately respected. No disrespecting your employees is wrong, but at least she does her job and helps keep the company running. I also love how she treats his family when they arrived. They already knew that she was rude and b**tchy so she did not need to change her attitude or pretend with them, so to speak. I like how genuinely thankful she was to them of letting her come despite not giving Andrew a choice. It is that gray area. She is not all bad which I respected. I know it was a 3 day weekend and you can’t fall for each other in 3 days, but they knew each other for 3 years so once both of their walls were down, I can buy them liking each other. And love that scene where he defends her to his father. He did not have to like her, but he respected her which I thought was huge. And the chemistry between them. Whew. No disrespect to Blake Livey (lively) and her partner(s). The chemistry made me buy these two as a couple.

I think it is how you carry yourself, honestly. I have had female bosses that are nice but when they give orders I never think that they are bitchy or bossy. the only thing i can think of now is adding 10 years to the one line betty had here the "ive had 89 birthdays i dont need anymore" being shes actually had 99 and died 3 weeks shy of 100 so shes had 99 birthdays shes not getting anymore

34:30 "Ramone is this town's everything" Ya know, it never occurred to me before now, but Ramone is this movie's equivalent of the Ramen Guy from Naruto, Old Man Shopkeep from RWBY, and the Cabbage Merchant from ATLA 😂😂😂 he's just EVERYWHERE, and he does EVERYTHING

Yup. Quickly become my favorite movie channel. Super appreciate the perspective you guys bring to your commentaries. I think you have interpretations and opinions on these films that are worth making part of the broader conversation about filmmaking and humanity in general. You also make me laugh consistently throughout and that's really all I ask. Keep doing what you're doing. The formula is perfect.

"If that dog dies I'm turning this movie off" - this is literally me with any show. I am yet to watch John Wick because someone told me his dog dies. I rage turned off Game of Thrones when bad things happened to the direwolves. It's crossing a line man, don't hurt dogs!!!

If this how you think then you would loooove John Wick

Much as I do enjoy this film, the message of "to be a successful woman at work you have to be ethically, socially, morally deficient with no semblance of a work-life-balance" really hasn't aged well
