Lafayette is a Gem. I used to always plan on spending a day there when I used to travel between Houston, Texas and Birmingham, Al. Wonderful food and wonderful people. I'm fixing to retire soon and am strongly considering the Lafayette area to finish out my time on this earth.

That’s great to hear. Let me know if I can help. We would love to give you a warm welcome here

Hope you have plenty of money saved up because house prices make no sense here. And ready for constant traffic regardless of what time of day it is. Pay attention to flood zones and dont choose a coastal parish because most companies won't insure you. Oh and speaking of insurance be prepared for car insurance to double.

I love Lafayette. Was born here but grew up in Atlanta and also lived in Long Island. Its fun to go Cajun and Zydeco dancing, and there are other music genres to find.

Lived here most of my life,an absolutely miserable city to live in if you’re poor but it’s fairly convenient because of what’s available here mixed with more stuff being added to the city and its proximity to other cities in nearby parishes. But if you have enough money? Quite a lot of stuff to do and fairly decent apartments on the south side of the city despite the rising crime there as well but it’s cliquey here enough to the point where you’ll feel alone if you don’t have any family members here nor friends from highschool.

The social fabric of south LA is still strong in general. This is a direct result of the Catholic culture that produces large families that, while not being quite as common as they used to be, are still a feature and are making a comeback. If you spend time with people in south LA, it’s a bragging right to name drop your relatives - both close and distant. Social fabric is the key factor in mental health and this circles back to Drake’s comments about how nice people in Lafayette are.

If you attend UL Lafayette, then you know parking is a NIGHTMARE! You would have to park at the Cajundome and wait for a UL Lafayette shuttle bus to get you.

Try oil center and the neighborhoods. I used to always park there along the roads.

Why are the clips you used when talking about the drivers from Lafayette, Indiana and not Lafayette, Louisiana? The first part - Northwestern Ave., footage from WLFI-18…
@DrakeAbshireLivingInLafayette13 күн бұрын
My editing team must have mixed up the cities when finding clips to use. Was overlooked on my part.

If my job wasn't in lafayette , LA I wouldn't live here. Trying to find decently priced homes, in safe areas, not in a flood zone, and that people didn't HGTV makeover to complete ugliness is almost impossible. Our houses are so over priced compared to other areas it ridiculous, rent prices are even worse!
@DrakeAbshireLivingInLafayetteАй бұрын
Interesting take. The numbers on paper say our prices are better than most cities, but our city is not always gonna be everyone’s vibe so I get it

Too many people for my liking and I must say the traffic in that town disturbs me with how aggressive drivers can be there

Nothing can touch New Orleans gumbo. I've had decent gumbo elsewhere in the state, but for the most part (especially around Houma and the River Parishes), you'll just get dirty dishwater with onions and andouille floating on top.
