Judge, when I left the air force the man who gave me the dd214 told me that the minute I got home the first thing I needed to do was take that form to the county court and put it on file. That advice was one of the best things I have ever done. When you need that form it is critical and I always know where mine is.

Listening to the first two lawyers passing the buck about who is going to step up and help that veteran absolutely disgusts me. Shame on both of them. Judge is the only one who gives his situation any degree of urgency and she can't make it happen for legitimate reasons. I hope the US learn to treat their veterans better, they can't do much worse that's for sure.

The military wants people to fight their wars for them, but when they come home, they are left to fend for themselves, which is disgraceful. The government needs to do a better job of helping these veterans, who gave their all for their country. Thank the good Lord, for judges like her.

She had one guy who wanted to sign up for benefits and be moved to California. People jumped thru hoops to get those and couldn't. Then he confessed he had never been in the Marines and he was sorry.

There are thousands of veteran counselors that will walk these veterans through one by one to get all the benefits they can get. Contact va hospitals or va centers. Yes there are bad counselors but there are mostly good ones and they are not hard to find. Talk to other veterans

Its so easy to see when a defendant is genuine or not in this court. Judge Boyd is always fair and tries to help reform these people, even when they don't deserve it. I feel so bad for Mr Carolyn, a genuine person that has made some poor decisions in his life. I really wish the best for this man. I hope he gets the help he needs and his life improves. Yes! Any VA office can request a DD-214, The record of his military service takes 5 minutes online.

My husband served for 13 years, his never served in a combat zone, was an MP and served in West Germany. He had undiagnosed PTSD. Serving in combat is not a prerequisite for mental problems.

Just call them. Have a three-way, so he can give you the authorization to speak for him and they. Will send out the form he'll fill out the form for his DD 214. Only he would know the answers

I adore Judge Boyd, but feel she allowed herself to be led by her emotions and not by the law. This was a case of personalities over principles, as she was dismissive to the prosecutor. 😢

If he cannot produce a paper DD-214, that's possible. But he can submit his full name, DOB, social and other info. I think it is in the interest of the prosecutor's office to research. It benefits their office to start with properly identifying a defendant or his arguments.
