I’m a Protestant and I thank you both for an informed video. Loathe and disgust aren’t strong enough words to describe how I feel about these so-called “men of G-d.” My grandmother was a follower of Oral Roberts, being somewhat of a shut in during the last few years of her life. Before I learned of this Prosperity Gospel, I always wondered who would she call or where would she go if she needed personal, spiritual guidance?

I knew that prosperity "gospel" was false but didn't realize how damaging it is. Something about, "if I pay this man/woman money (sow this seed), God will reward me" just didn't sit right with me. Felt akin to bribing God, which is heretical. I used to listen to Joel Osteen; he put me in the mind of a motivational speaker more than a pastor. Now, I see him in a new light. This movement is both dangerous and dumb.

@@beatlecristian yeah its a form of simony, id even go so far as to call it a watered down version of Kabbalah, example being slaying a chicken as sacrifice for forgiveness of sins in a ritual as a way to "fool God". (Of course this is ridiculous as God cannot be fooled) But yeah giving money explicitly for ones own benefit does nothing for your soul, and presuming that one is saved for doing so is damaging.

@@beatlecristian Similar concepts, someone close to me is really into the whole law of attraction stuff and its pretty clear its all influenced by the same thought process and end goal. (Worldly happiness and/or salvation by worldly means. Bonus points if it involves "manipulating" or "controlling" God)

That was excellent. Many whom I know in evangelicalism oppose the prosperity preachers. There is no such thing as a "prosperity gospel". It is the prosperity apostasy. Galatians 2:20

Grew up in the A/G! When my grand aunt passed away 3 years ago of cancer, her friend (who claimed to be a prophetess) said it was because we had begun mourning her that she died. We didn’t have any faith in the (false) prophecies she’d been saying about how my aunt would be healed. 🙄 this stuff is close to home.

According to the prosperity gospel great saints like Anthony of the desert, Theresa of Calcutta, St Francis of Assisi and St Paul should have had more faith so they could have had an easy life and been rolling in cash. Something tells me there's a problem with that.

Please don't be upset but the prodestant reformation began in response to the Catholic equivalent of the prosperity gospel, in the form of offerings that went to cathedrals for prayers for the dead. As a prodestant please listen and don't be deceived, the gospel is the true power of God to save, when we Believe in Christ and him crucified we are united in one body as the spiritual house of the Lord

Prosperity gospel is witchcraft - taking authority over God, or tapping into the faith force and projecting your will in and speaking what you want into existence, as opposed to humbly asking God for something with the attitude of Thy will be done.

What about the verse “by His stripes we ARE healed” Both statements are in scripture. If someone is not healed they could have a misconception or misunderstanding of scripture. Paul said “there must be heresies among you because many are sick and many die”. My people die for lack of knowledge. If these poor souls are told “don’t worry, it’s Gods will for you to die” of course they will have it according to their faith. That doesn’t mean they are not saved. They just can’t engage in the blessings they don’t understand or believe in.

Clearly Catholics believe differently from all other Bible believers. If we are different then we cannot both be true believers. You decide based in scripture. John 3 The New Birth There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Catholics would say amen but your reading that passage wrong if your stopping there on v.3 on purpose. That was a whole conversation and has to be looked at in a whole conversation to draw the full meaning of the text.

Missy Sanders I believe the Church is in debt, but even if not there is nothing wrong with saving money. This is not hoarding. fact? pay their people out of purgatory and into heaven. Maybe you mean pRay their people out? I'm not totally sure what you mean here. Your English is kind of fragmented. What you have kind of said is not the doctrine. Purgatory is Biblical but you are not allowed to read it as several men 500 years ago removed it from the Bible. They edited the Bible and removed parts of it. It is also Biblical from the NT as "But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false," There are other similar passages. I think you mis-understand Purgatory. If you are in Purgatory you have made it to heaven but must be purified first. Not every one needs to be purified but no one who enters heaven does so unclean. This is in the Bible you only have to read it to see.

It's literally in Maccabees "He also took up a collection, man by man, to the amount of two thousand drachmas of silver, and sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering. " So yeah, making a donation on behalf of a deceased person is a good thing. And, the church doesn't say it'll "buy your way out of purgatory " it's just something nice to do since the dead can't do anything for themselves.
