Iconic voice. I pretty much only knew the hits until I started to collect vinyl and hear their B-Sides. Psych Furs are sooooo Underrated

yeah its wild they have four strong as hell, classic albums out of the gate. Most people only take in the hits and miss the greater stuff. That self titled especially, one of my favorite debut albums.

Way too loud, totally uncompressed, and a very dislikeable tone though... The band is sounding a bit young & untogether really. Compare that brass on Danger to Teardrop Explodes at about the same time... I shall try and find it. Sorry, and I am a fan too (& a soundy!!)

@@DaveSaunders01 At this point, they had lost half the band (unless that is Vince Ely on drums, in which case it's 1/3). I think some lack of togetherness is understandable. Then again, I like Tim Butler's bass precisely because it's loud and obnoxious.

Excellent stuff. The levels were a bit off in Gas I think, but brilliant song... "It's sick, the price of medicine." And '...check that you're asleep again.' Great lyrics. Danger was awesome, and Sleep, shame it ended too soon. Nice one 😊

Just got in from another Psychedelic Furs gig, this time in Oxford[Sunday10thSeptember2017] another great performance only slightly more greying hair! Been a fan since 1979 when I first heard them on the John Peel show, and been to lots of their shows...especially the early eighties including Glastonbury1986. I think they have gotten better with age. Saw them at Frome on 24thOctober 2010... they played the "Talk Talk Talk" album[their first 2 albums are my favorites] in its original order, then after a quick break , they did lots of other stuff including their first album, ending as usual with Sister Europe, and ultimately India. ...... tonight's version of India was slightly more experimental and spaced out rhythmically than usual,very enjoyable ;~) From Chandler's Ford

TravisBickle1963 Hello, there's some excellent VHS film [done in short bursts due to battery recharging] online of Glastonbury1986. Made by amateurs with borrowed equipment. I'm thinking of asking them if it's possible to have a couple of hard copies as I was there along with one of my closest friends, who we lost in 2009 [in an accident in his house].. The film clips capture the time rather well, it was before the festival became corporate, and still seemed somewhat haphazard! Still sponsored by CND , and for that year the whole festival cost only £17 to get in. ;~)

To have a voice as cool as his and to think he said he’s not crazy about the sound of his own voice. Well, luckily we all disagree with his opinion. His lyrics too- “Phone book full of accidents-“ and the like- so simply brilliant.

This band had potential but the lead singer at the time just couldnt sing good enough. Before I get hate mail I own the 1st 4 albums cos like I said the music is good but Richard isnt quite good enough. Visually the guy looks good for the band but imagine if Julian Cope was singing those songs then it would be in a different league. Sorry if your a Psychedelic Firs fan but I guess its my hang up.
@gentillygirl5454 жыл бұрын
You are correct. you don't like Richard Butler? Shame. No reason for you to be here.
@nasskhan45434 жыл бұрын
@@gentillygirl545 Fair enough. Please take note I wasnt trying to be spiteful but Imho Richards voice sounded & developed better from 3rd album onwards. I did once hear live version of Sister Europe & his voice sounded hundred times better than when it was recorded. Its just sometimes when I hear some of their records Im always thinking " Wow I wish Ferry , Lydon or Bowie was singing this. To look on the brightside at least his voice isnt Geddy Lee or Tom Waits.

Butlers voice is what made The Furs different and awesome. Julian Cope? Mate, shut your mouth. No reward for you! Lol all in good humour. 😋
