No he was right though, its like any commentator saying Ali is all hype and he didn't believe what he truly says. Its like a boxing commentator saying Floyd Mayweather is fake, don't buy into his gimmick. Joe didn't call McGregor fake and overhyped Ronda(something he admitted later on), Joe is an extremely biased commentator at times. A commentator should never expose the business. Hypocritical? Not all promos are scripted. The best promos are almost always improvised. WWE performers need promos to get people to warch them fake fight, but most MMA fighters usually think they're above self promotion, even though they see it working for fake fighters. Good promos puts asses in seats, and the UFC hasn't fully established that aspect with most of their fighters, which is why numbers are down.

OK, so the reason there is a comparison to WWE is because of the format of the show. It is formatted like old school wrestling. Its not just the fact that they cut promos. Its a proven formula that works. Why WWE steered away from it i have know idea. But UFC does the old school art of wrestling very well.
