What’s really interesting to me about N is that both Reshiram and Zekrom suit him well because he embodies both a mindset akin to a calculator that fits with a hero of truth but also has a very idealistic personality befitting of his vision for the future so he’d also be a hero of ideals. Really interesting character

Kinda similar to you, I saw N as a kid and just went ‘okay. He’s cool but I do that too’ I’m autistic, have always felt disconnected from humans due to childhood alienation, and grew up vegetarian and now vegan. Lifelong special interest in nonhumans too, am in vet school now pfft. It’s just kinda, funny more than anything how kid me saw a character with the same type of neurodivergence and shrugged and moved on. Fantastic video, looking forward to if you make anymore! Awesome video, I really enjoyed it! N is one of my favourite fictional characters. I just want to add a disclaimer for anyone reading the comments. Narcissistic Personality Disorder doesn't de facto make you a bad person. There is no such thing as a "bad person syndrome". If someone is a bad person it's because they chose to be, not because they have a disorder. There are many people with NPD that are suffering and that deserves love and empathy just as much as you and I!

I LOVE THIS VIDEO AGGHHH thank you it’s really upsetting to see popular creators constantly mischaracterise him and spread misinformation about him (Doesn’t help that he’s my special interest so it upsets me even more than it would someone who just likes him 😭) so watching this video was a breath of fresh air!! You understand his character so well and while like you said N’s neurodivergent - more specifically autism - coding might not have been intentional, N’s character makes me feel very seen as an autistic person who’s been dehumanised by people

Another thing. If you were to ever make another video about N I think looking at his character in Pokémon Masters EX would be a good idea!! While yes it is a gacha game (sadly) it does a genuinely good job at characterising N, it’s literally just his character from B2W2 but even more expanded upon. While all the events in the game may not be completely canon, how N would respond to situations and his characterisation definitely are, it doesn’t make much sense to ignore it when it’s completely in character!! As well as this, I do think his character in B2W2 does offer some interesting things. Like when you explore the castle, he seems upset when you go into his room, and if you try and enter again he immediately shuts down the idea and tells you to keep moving. Pair that with the broken music box and I think it’s meant to show how N hasn’t actually 100% healed from his trauma, especially after fully processing and remembering what happened to him. He’s definitely accepted it and is moving on but he still can’t bare to be reminded of his childhood and early adulthood.

Tho I think Game freak and the Pokemon Company might have been a bit too ambitious in gen 5, with their fervency for renewal and their shift in focus towards storytelling, I gotta give em credit where it's due. They made one hell of an interesting character in N. Also great video keep it up!! ❤❤❤

I once heard a theory that wild pokemon actually want to be caught which makes sense. I added my own theory that it takes far longer and is way harder for a pokemon to reach its final form naturally. And so they try to get a pokemon trainer’s attention to be caught and raised by them in order to get stronger faster. We help them reach their full potential,we help them create the most optimal move sets to cover their strengths and weaknesses. Picture this- You’re a magikarp. Which would you prefer? Try to survive on your own as a weak helpless fish and take way longer to become a gyrados and pray you don’t get eaten before that happens? Or… Be caught and raised by a trainer to become a gyrados faster in return for helping to assist them with their own goals like challenging the pokemon league for example?

I love this video! It's always a huge refresher to see someone with experience outline the effects of trauma, even in fiction, which helps to spread awareness and teach. Though, I am curious as to what differences in your analisis you'd find for the manga and anime versions. I have copies of these mangas, if you ever have trouble finding them for future reference!

I'm genuinely angry that you have 105 subscribers. This video was genuinely amazing and will be used for a potential rom hack i might make. The way you evaluated them was really cool, especially with Ghetsis (if his past was more in game thatd be soo cool). Thank you so much for not just writing him off as "Annoying vegan activist", "Insane" among all the other crappy misinfo and misinterpretation of him. I appreciate this analysis of N! He was the first character I ever really cared about or related to, and it’s nice seeing someone analyze him like this. I got the conservative and Christian argument side throughout the game. All the team plasma forcing their ideals on everyone, and wanting to take all the Pokemon away so they can be the one in control, sounds a lot like the pride movement and the democratic government. But i guess it could be universal; other sides probably sees different things. I can't remember well how the mother and father issue went. Probably wasn't handled well. I didn't realize that N was being, (ew), groomed by that guy. I haven't got to the castle yet actually.
