Good video! I think being online and mostly anonymous people tend to throw empathy out the window. Instead of being informative and open, people are looking to be correct and win a debate. I don’t necessarily think you’ll change someone’s perspective thinking like the latter, but rather showing someone what or how you think and genuinely finding out why someone else has a different one lol life would be more constructive that way

This is so refreshing, I've gotten told "I don't appreciate complex writing" for disliking (Danganronpa lol) characters on the basis of "I just don't like them or find them interesting"

I've noticed that this discourse wave tends to happen a lot in English-speaking community, there's a big difference between the Spanish community of XIV or KH with the English one. Idk why, I guess some countries tend to have people with more free time I guess

Thank you for this video. A lot of people need to hear about it. Not only am I a KH fan, but I'm a Pokemon fan, this video had me thinking of when the Dex It thing for Sword and Shield was a debate, I always saw people arguing over it and quite furiously at that. I kept trying to take the middle ground, trying to stop the in fandom fighting and got attacked for being in the middle ground by both sides. Dude... this stuff is legit and thank you for bringing it to light.

The one that always get's me is people who don't like a game saying things like oh your just not willing to see the flaws or your not a "Real" fan if you like it. Which is exactly what it was like when Kingdom Hearts 3 came out, if you said anything positive about the game you get attacked for it and some still do it. I have no isssue with people not liking the game, but it becomes a whole other issue once you start trying to dictate what I can or can't like. I'm perfectly able to judge for myself what I loved about something and didn't enjoy so much, but when I see a flaw it's simply a case of eh that did'nt work for me and I move on.

This was such an interesting video. It's funny when i was in 13th grade we had this as an topic in psychology and we all thought we would never be that way. Now if i think about it how often we think that way that the others are talking trash because they don't like something like happens so often without us realizing.

I guess this kind of ties in to identity and binary thinking, but so frequently I find a lot of "discourse" is either a legitimate critique of problematic aspects of media or fans perpetuating racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc and excusing it away because it's about fictional media. When an identity as marginalized, then any discussion about it turns into Discourse in the negative sense. Videogame fandoms in particular have a history of being hostile to diversity, which is a shame. I think that the fact that you directly play as a character as opposed to just watching one makes the shared sense of identity much stronger.

This was a good vid and it voices a lot of things about online discourses that really grate on me a lot.

I've always been to socially anxious to engage in online discourse. I kinda just keep to self and like what I like I like. I've always liked that KH is a single player game that I can play by myself and completely immerse myself in. I don't understand why some people are so negative. But yeah as someone who also likes a psychologically I do find it interesting. KH is a really wholesome game and I find that those who truly love it also love what it's about. They carry it in their character in kindness and friendship. THOSE are my people.

When I see people shittalk on KH3D and disregard its good sides, I'm kinda disappointed. I see its bad sides, but that doesn't mean its good sides aren't worth talking about and that people should keep trashtalking about the game.

I think I might be a Multiplistic Thinker... Last thing I want to do is have a long heated debate on Twitter.

I have a weird problem. Normally with online and even irl discussion, I tend to have an open mind. But there's one exception... It's when people like something with a lot of flaws and refuses to mention that they acknowledge them. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum is the perfect example, as I'm a massive Pokemon fan, and I've been hearing that game's praises for a long time. When I hear people talk about DPPl, I think of all the issues it has that have made me really dislike it, and they don't say any of the negatives, only the positives, or vice versa. It's that only good or bad mentality, although I haven't heard as many people talk about the negatives. My issue is that it feels like people almost always talk about the positives, and it feels like because of that they don't... Fully appreciate what those games are? I like Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded for example, and I'd immediately start with "the story is mediocre at best but the combat". I get that one is more so negative leaning, but my point is that when it's something commonly liked, I don't like only seeing the praise for it, especially when I see it as really flawed.
