Very dissapointed to hear that 'Breakdance' didn't inspire Headley to pull out the lino in 83, don the Patrick Cagoule & attempt the Smurf outside WH Smiths in the Civic centre precinct. I did.. & i'm paying for it now. The backs gone, I now suffer from lower lumber difficulties & the smell of Ralgex means no one will sit within ten feet of me in the office. Actually Headley had the right idea.

For some reason I missed this pub visit at the time, too busy searching for egg-nogg probably... so great to catch up. A fine selection - I particularly adore and treasure my copy of 'Days' by Kirsty MacColl. Perfect pop indeed. A good friend of mine used to paint his face white and head off to Gary Numan gigs. 'Are Friends Electric' always reminds me of him and those days. Cheers! D

Are Friends Electric ? One of the most important records in British music history. It's also the very first record i ever purchased...i still own that record 👍👍👍 You're right John,it doesnt have a chorus and its basically two songs that were joined together....and the song is basically about robot prostitutes . Numan came across a mini moog synth when himself and his punk band went into a studio to finish off songs for an album i believe....he was totally blown away by the sounds this magical machine could produce. Im a big Numanoid....love Gary Numan 👍👍👍 ps... loved the Aretha tune,I'd totally forgotten that one,not heard it for years. Can Headley please do a body popping,break dancing tune with his Tuba 👍👍👍

The sound on Are Friends Electric was huge for synths at the time...Street Dance was something I had completely forgotten about so thanks for bringing that back into my brain Hedley....I think I'd tend toward the instrumental too though...

I remember hearing Tubeway Army on late night local radio on Saturdays they would play the whole album, and I remember getting it on a cassette tape, I dig dig Tubeway Army....I still have that cassette 😳😁💪🏻merry merry Christmas 🎄 holiday to you Hedley!!! Hello boys, cheers to you both and Happy Holidays. Brass in pocket is on the first album, and in the states I purchased The Wait as a single long before the album came out. It is a different version than the album, much harder. As to deep fried turkey, yes it sounds horrible but is not greasy, some how. Not unlike breading up a nice piece of cod and dropping it in a vat of grease. Again all the best.

I’ve made egg nog when I worked at the dairy. Nasty stuff. I cook turkey in the oven but deep fried turkey is amazing. Are Friends Electric is a great song. Cars was his only hit here. After the mid 70s I’m not interested in Aretha Franklin. Break Machine is a surprising good choice by Hedley. Especially following the first two mundane picks.
