It's a VC reunion of sorts. The Long Cut drove up from California to stay with us for a couple of days. We went to Janku Land in Tacoma and then met up with Mazzy for beers and pizza at E9 in Tacoma. Later when we got back to our place we decided to make a video with no clear agenda. This is what happened.

Great to see good friends together. Yes , the Queen drove a Galaxy 500 Ford ( my wife btw). White with a black vinyl top. Yes i do wish i was in that room. I was a poor kid growing up, the records i collect are the ones I couldn’t afford. So, they are pretty common. Thank you for inviting me in.

I’ll throw a couple in: Green on red, Gas food and lodging. If you like Neil Young, Wilco, Dinosaur Jr at their most melodic. Songs about drifters and serial killers. Chuck Prophet, who Harry loves, on guitar. Also, Come, 11:11. If you like the same, a melodic, punky, dynamic crazy horse, with an amazing, gritty female singer, Thalia Zadek. Drummer for Codeine on guitar. Brilliant, and should be more known. Check both albums out people.

Rules for record collecting: 1. Never buy groups with silly names....hold on ...most groups have silly names. 2. Never buy albums with rubbish covers ...except reggae. 3. Buy any Billy Irish album. 4. Having three beers removes inhibitions therefore improves record choice. 5. Buy all Bert Jansch (pronounced Yansh) albums on sight.

Great conversations and libations....Re: EJ-Blue Moves. Elton had just fired the best rhythm section short of the wrecking crew in Dee Murry and Nigel Olsson, and brought back Caleb Quaye to work with Davey Johnstone. Others brought in like Barnstorm/Joe Walsh Bassist Kenny Passarelli and drummer Roger Pope with keyboardist James Newton Howard changed the entire dynamic of Elton's sound. Add in Bernie Taupin's pending divorce, some drugs/alcohol, and the result is Blue Moves, which came after Rock of The Westies, another not-great LP. I didn't much care for it when it came out, especially when compared to Captain Fantastic, but after some critical listening over time, and a bit of a deep dive into the sessions, it has grown on me, though not to the point of a favorite. I find the sound to be lush and vibrant- w/nice orchestrations. IMO he had much worse records in the 80s, but I can certainly understand why some don't like it.

Saw the Broun Fellinis many times. They did a few tapes and CDs. Kinda knew Ayman the first bassist. The first tape was the best, Aphrokubist-improvisations-vol-9. I didn’t like the new bassists style, kinda funk slap bass. Didn’t fit in. Ayman was more melodic like spiritual jazz and they lost a lot when he left. Drummer Kevin Carnes, aka Dr. Boris Karnaz, was incredible

Blues Moves had quite a bit of filler on it but it definitely was not shit crap as you put it had alot of good songs think it was better than Rock of the westies before it the real poor records came after this,I don't think he made a good album after this till Songs of the West Coast but that's just my subjective veiw. I know Mazzy your just trying to entertain but iam sure you know he made much worse albums than Blue Moves but yes his golden run was over.
