What is it a British VC panel is able to do that the American VC finds so difficult to achieve? They don't talk over each other, they listen to each other, and they allow for silent pauses.

I like these guys. I agree, there is a panel called jazz bums. The group of 3 is fine, but they do a larger group that is nearly unlistenabled mainly due to one guest.

@@Harrispilton22 You presume I'm applauding Madam Cyn but it's John I'm tipping my hat to Harris. In all the years in the vc , all the live streams and guest appearances John is the first to ask me if I worked at Rock On. Years I've sat through studded flunkies and fame junkies recounting their time in the 27th incarnation of The Barron Knights or last farewell tour of The Wombles where they got to shake Tobermory's hand before Chris Spedding left. While the feeble minded and mentally challenged fawned over every word from these cretins' mouths like it was an utterance on a par with the sermon on the mount. Whereas I sat on my genuine rock 'n' roll stories waiting for the right opportunity to inorganically name drop some bed wetter into the dull and tawdry social intercourse.

Wendell Austin's LSD is very much a reworking of the song Cocaine Blues, which was recorded in 1947 by Ray Hogsed as a rather jaunty Western Swing tune. But it's probably best known from the version Johnny Cash performed at the Folsom Prison gig. Interestingly, Columbia didn't censor the song, unlike the recording of the song he made in 1960 on which they insisted on some rewrites and to change the song title to Transfusion Blues. So while you might understand the original, "I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down", "I took a transfusion and I shot my woman down" is rather nonsensical.

Yes, unfortunately you're right. I'm a fan of his solo albums, his first being a quirky gem. I believe the follow up, which was partially recorded, was a victim to the international oil shortage in 1973 and wasn't released until after his death in 2003. The two albums he recorded in Italy are worth a listen as well.

I'd like to see everyone in the VC have some form of facial hair, it should be compulsory. John with an Amish beard. So i have that Gary Paxton but not listened to it yet. Paul, you add flavour where most VC channels probably me included just show records which can be rather dull. I did think you were rather restrained at times so am waiting for the blatant edited outtakes. I've got the Otis satisfaction on a reissue comp on which all the tracks are killer, cost me a fiver somewhere.

Cyn is like the forgotten member of The Cramps who got kicked out of the band before they became famous because Lux and Ivy thought he was just a bit too sleazy for that band. There’s another version of the Kent-Vicious incident that Vicious did it because Kent was beating up his girlfriend of the time. Who knows the truth of the lives of these unsavoury characters. Paul makes out Nick Kent to be a charming chap, but I think the truth is he was a pretty nasty bloke. Allan Jones wrote for Melody Maker, not NME, and was editor for what was probably MM’s golden period from the mid 80s to early 90s.
@madamcyn6 ай бұрын
Interesting comment. You obviously know me better than me. I was asked to join the Cramps in 1986 as the bass player when Fur went AWOL. As I've never played the bass I declined the offer. Sid never had a girlfriend , he was Rotten's lover. Nick Kent couldn't beat an egg but I'd be interested to know who is slandering him. Alan Jones not to be confused with Allan Jones. Alan was running Out On The Floor in the 80s , he gave up journalism in the 60s. Anything else you've heard , just ask me. Don't be a kunt.

@@madamcynIt was Nick Kent’s own girlfriend that he was allegedly beating up. I think it was another music hack I heard it from.
