was'nt that the butlins roller skate rink where you were drinking your beer. Merry christmas and a great new year from a welshman now living in cambridge who spent all my youth visiting barry island and yes that wooden roller coaster was great. ( I am now 67). Many Many happy times in Barry.

Enjoyed this Butty, I used to be in Geest Line shipping out of Barry Dock from 1974 - 77, remember the Bier Keller very well. My favourite Pub was down the road from Stacy's Mam and parallel to the Dock, a corner Pub run by Frank an ex seagoing engineer in WW2, a great bloke taught me a lot about real ale and old fashioned engineering. A Brains Pub BTW.

Merry Christmas Simon and family 🎄🎄🎄🌟🌟🌟🌟 I spent many a summer on that beach and at Butlins and The feathers nightclub and the ship hotel on the road to the Island . I had a flat on the parade so used to go to The Knap a lot to Bindles bar x then moved to Laugharne West Wales now live in Cowbridge but all my family still live in Barry. Daniel street, Guys road,wynd street . It’s the largest town in Wales. But for a night out I always preferred Cardiff. Nice nostalgic vid Simon. X

Start of your video I remember there was a bridge there that came from the car park on the right. That led to the fun house where the entrance used to blow air up girls skirts ha, ha. That wooden roller coaster was called the whacky gold mine. At 18yrs old it was 1991 and I celebrated my birthday in Barry Buttlins as its where I worked at the burger mall which was on the right of the main entrance as you went in. I worked as a table cleaner and serving on the till, best times of my life and most of the local Barry lads who sneaked in through the fence holes lol became my best mates and will be forever. Rip Jason who used to work on the dodgeum cars. I miss everyone I worked with and buttlins so so much. Merry Xmas Simon and Family. Barry buttlins will always have a place in my heart.

I can remember a big massive sky blue coloured roller coaster during the 1960s it was called the “ Scenic Railway “ I actually saw some post cards in one of the gift shops about 10-15 years ago with photos of the Scenic Railway on them. The Scenic Railway was before the Fun House , The Log Flume and The Galaxy Rollercoaster.
