i strongly supported the statement of Cambodia's Ministry of Trade, that he has concerned over the Racing of Competitiveness for thr 6 countries of 10 ASEAN member countries with in the Asia-Facific region. The position of Cambodia is like holding the tail of the 6 ASEAN countries in order to be one them. But i know by next few years Cambodia will about to become Vietnam alike in terms of economic stability. The 6 countries i mentioned are The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. These countries are nearly Economic Power House of entire Asia, soon for entire world.

The Thai idea of Landbridge is simply inviting all ASEAN countries to become partners in co-investing the 2nd shipping gateway into ASEAN region, while saving energy and 4-day transport time. Then all ASEAN countries shall benefit from the trades, not monopolize in Malacca strait or Singapore's chokepoint.

I think landbridge is an attempt to test the feasibility of a kra canal and get the local community involved. If the landbridge can bring prosperity and economic development to the people around it, then its much easier to sell them the idea of the kra canal in the future.
@thanpisittadsri2027
@thanpisittadsri2027 Жыл бұрын
@@Penaming Kra Canal is not worth it. As a former advocate for the Thai canal, I don't see the project as worthy now. 1) the Canal will be much more expensive than Landbridge, Thailand will have to rely more on Chinese fundings and labors. 2) Thai Navy is not so efficient in safeguarding the maritime, we are better at Land and Air forces. 3) The Canal will ruin the Southern Thai environment and beaches, resulting in negative effects on Thai tourism overall, which we also heavily rely on. In addition to that it will also attract controversy on segregation as Thailand is still facing Southern Insurgency from the muslim groups.

Asean's best strategy to navigate the US-China competition/oonflict is to stay out of the conflict & leverage the competition to benefit Asean. The worst mistake for Asean is to fall prey to western machinations to become Ukraine 2.0. It's obvious western heads in this conversation has the usual arrogant attitude that Asean doesn't know how to manage themselves. The best answer is from the Thai minister. Asean will always take a position. That position is solely for Aeean's benefit, not the agenda of US/Europe.

The US doesn't engage much in trade and investment in the Asean region, because it doesn't want to. let'sb be real, ASEAN prosperity will be good for china more than the US, just like what the filipina representative said, asean country economical success will lift others economically in the region, hence why china investing a lot on its neighbors on infrastructures, because they know the success of their neighbors will have good effect on them. Meanwhile US only invest in millitary alliance in the regiin to destabilize asean to hinder its prosperity so china won't get the benefits

Australia today mentioned spending $1 billion dollars investing in high tech under sea mines by the defence minister , Richard Marles to deterChina.Such deployment is very worrying for ASEAN regions especially Indonesia, Malaysia, the Phillipines and Singapore. That’s needs to be looked into folks . Where does Australia intend to place them . Already we haven’t managed to completely clear the land mines in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and yet the war mongering sector has now proposed such unethical strategy. Am praying for the God Almighty that such a deadly move can be curtailed.

Singapore will never let Malaysia be the voice of the peninsular area, Singapore will always want to take the mantle when having dialogue with other parts of ASEAN. It's the same thing as Singapore will never let Johor ports and airports prosper, that Sg should control the airspace of southern Johor, at the detriment of Johor industrial parks. Despite what Sg says, the state always act as direct competitor to Malaysian interests. Look at the HSR, why would Malaysia let Sg dictate the alignments of the HSR within Malaysian borders? Singapore is already the richest country in Asia but it keeps hogging everything not wanting to relinquish anything in bilateral relationship.
