The word "Legend" is often used far too casually, but Kathy is truly a legend. Much respect. Thanks for this one.

Great presentation! Wow she is still a very beautiful lady. Didn't know she was active teaching, I had the great privilege and honor to also train with Mr. Jimmy H Woo over the years beginning in early 70's. Most confident man I ever knew and saw him in action for real.

YES! She travels monthly and teaches out of Seattle. I'm a student of hers and have her permission to connect with potential seminar hosts on her behalf! Please let me know if you'd like to connect. I believe you could get quite a group of interested martial artists together on your side of the pond!

Hello. Yes Mr. Ed Parker visited regularly at Mr. Woo's studio, as did Mr. Bruce Lee ( who would sit watching the classes taking copious notes) to glean insight from Mr. Woo's vast actual kill-or-be=killed experiences. Mr. Woo was the Best and NO one challenged him because they were well aware of his killer reputation.

@@Arythmnmaker1It is well known that Jimmy didn’t like Bruce. A lot of martial artist when seeing Jimmy’s teaching learned from him. Bruce would pay people for the footage of San Soo classes. Same way he had film on Steve Muhammad when Steve went by Bruce’s place. It’s very smart to scout the opposition.
@Arythmnmaker1
@Arythmnmaker1 6 ай бұрын
I don't believe it was a personal dislike of Mr. Lee. Mr. Woo was upset with Mr. Lee because he felt Bruce was not making a strong and clear distinction that his style was not Gung-Fu. Mr. Woo would ask him, " Bruce why do you tell people you teach Gung -Fu? You don't teach Gung -Fu". Mr. Woo's perspective from his life's actual kill-or-be-killed combat experiences gave him supreme confidence in his Family's fighting system and so he was very adamant regarding the public and any confusion of what constituted the purity of a Gung-Fu system and not a hybrid unproven on the battlefield. @@massdisruption3437

Crazy she did her first MMA match in 2009, which was already like 10 years way past her physical fighting prime. Although women's MMA wasn't a thing when she was in her fighting prime in the 90's.

We think you should watch it again if that’s all you got out of the techniques she was utilizing. Kathy Long’s art is not a sport. So it addresses the perceived threat as so. Simply put if the threat happens to be male, she addresses it as so If the threat is a female, the techniques would be different.
