Punisher is perhaps the only street level hero who really accomplishes anything. the problem with non-lethal heroes is that ultimately nothing changes. the big guys get out of prison and the little guys get replaced. with the Punisher they all go down permanently and people really think twice about filling in the gaps.

thuzan117 But he hasn't accomplished anything, what are you smoking? Almost everyone he kills has been constantly replaced, his kill count might as well as be zero. I love Punisher, but between Batman and the Punisher people fear the Bat more then some punk with a gun, that's all they really see Frank as, and his writers will probably never change that. I'm not trying to start a fight, but in the light of day, what has Frank actually accomplished? While he's a skilled combatant, he gave everyone a good reason to buy higher grade weapons which in turn can be used to hurt other families, he's also given rise to various assholes who succeeded in hurting people. Honestly what Frank does doesn't work either. Cause in the end they'll just be replaced by someone bigger, meaner and badder, and it'll keep going down that road with no stop at all. At least that's how I see it.

The thing with Punisher is that he knows he's going to die at some point and in fact wants to but he wants to kill as many criminals as he can before he dies and take as many of them with him as possible. If I was a criminal I'd be more scared of Punisher than Batman because Punisher kills criminals and has even given some of the ones he hasn't killed fates worse than death. Whereas with Batman he just gives them a beating, puts them in places he knows they'll easily break out of and waits for the never ending cycle to start again. Criminals would be more scared of a guy who'd kill them or worse than a guy who won't kill them no matter what they do. I like both characters but Punisher's methods are more effective.

Let me tell you right here and right now why we love the Punisher so much. Because HE IS JUST A MERE HUMAN BEIGN. No superpower crap, no alien mutation or anything else.Anybody can be him. Plus he goes by the ancient dictone "An eye for an eye", a primitive human concept which is bound to all of us. He protects the good and innocent and punishes the evil with the exact coin. The thing I hated about the punisher movie; the one with thomas jane, was that he didn't seem angry enough. Or even that hurt. I really would have liked a scene where he just broke down and sobbed. I'm sorry if that sounds wrong. I just want them to explore his more soft side. If he even has one.

@@gabrielcanejo187 I wrote this before he had his own season. In his own season, Bernthal did a great 616 Punisher. In DD S2 he did a pretty good Punisher MAX take on the character (my issue is I've never been fond of MAX being portrayed in the media. It's not the normal version of Frank. That Frank is much darker and more evil and I don't like people thinking that's just how the character is.) As for Dolph Lundgren, Dolph was great for how The Punisher was in the 80s. He was just your stereotypical 80s action hero. The movie itself made some weird choices. Like the theatrical ending vs directors ending (directors ending felt way more like Frank Castle than the theatrical), the choice for him to use a skull knife as an insignia (Marvel didn't give them the rights to the shirt so I guess I get that), and his family's death as well as his origin of being a cop instead of ex military (he may have been both. I can't remember), but his portrayal itself I felt was fine for the time. I'd say, my ranking of The Punisher portrayals would be along this list: 1. Thomas Jane - The Punisher (2004) 2. Jon Bernthal - The Punisher S1 3. Dolph Lundgren - The Punisher (1989) 4. Jon Bernthal - Daredevil S2 5. Ray Stevenson - Punisher: War Zone 6. Jon Bernthal - The Punisher S2

Thomas Jane - Thomas Jane (2004) (If you put him above Jon in S2 or even 1 i can see why you would do that even though i don't agree but i'm not budging on Daredevil S2, i just can't see how you could put anyone even Thomas above Jon in that season, not Lundgren at the very least, that's the one i can't for the life of me understand or even to say it's a matter of taste, to each his own and all that, Thomas Jane i could understand but Lundgren??? Ray Stevenson - Punisher Warzone (even thought the movie wasn't as good as the 2004 one, still better then the 89 one to me, the best part of it by far was Ray as Frank Castle i think in some aspects at least he got the Punisher across even better then Thomas did, on some, and his appearance in that is by far the closest to Punisher then any actor before or after will ever get i think, it was like if Frank Castle himself jumped from the pannel to the real world) 5. Dolph Lundgren - Punisher 1989 ( while i see your points about him and the film, it's still nowhere enough for me to put him above any of the others
