The claymore has more sex appeal than the iron greatsword because it’s longer. Being longer seemingly always adds sex appeal. But the longest “weapon” in the game is powerstance pikes. And those have no sex appeal at all! So sometimes being short is better. Besides, it’s all about how you use your “weapon.”

In my first playthrough the first ash of war that I used consistently on my greatswords was wild strikes, mostly because continuously swinging in sweeping arcs around you is pretty close to how you use large two-handed swords in real life

At RL 200 you can rock a 50/50 or 60/60 quality build, which is when quality completely out scales Strength or Dex. Your straight sword does great sword damage at that point, lmao

Ds1 and 2 magic: limited casts (yes, ds2 had cast recovery items - I remember - I did lots of magic runs) Ds3 and Er: magic tied to blue bar In all of these games, melee has always been easier to me. So much more straight forward compared to a caster.
