This is a story about two species of tiny, rarely seen, Australian possums, a catastrophic bushfire, and a plant - Hairpin Banksia.
It's a unique camera-trap window into the life of a small group of these mouse-sized marsupials - the Eastern Pygmy Possum and the Feathertail Glider - that survived the 5,000 square kilometre Currowan Fire, one of the wildfires that burned out almost half the forest on Australia's east coast in the terrible summer of 2019-2020.

I'm so glad these tiny babies have survived. I live in a small town near Batemans Bay. Those fires were so horrible, scary and moved so fast... Blessings, Dot

Absolutely fabulous Gavin. Your postscript is a gem. I had feather tail gliders in my semi rural property at Eraring NSW.

What an enchanting video. Beautifully captured and edited - with a lovely laid back narration. Also a little reassuring and inspiring for me, as I live close to Batemans Bay. This was my first view of a Werrong Lane story - hopefully not my last.

What a wonderful film. Love the narration and research, but especially love the feeling of hope after such a devastating fire, to see these creatures can survive. Looking forward to more of these. Katy Egger Alice Springs

My dad says the last big fires to burn from Canberra to the coast was in 1984 or 1985, around the same time as a big drought. So it's not the first time so much land has burnt. Just this time there were more people living on "bush blocks" and at risk from the fires. There are still many people who are trying to recover, to rebuild their lives. Yes, even two years later there are people living in tents and caravans, or on friends couches. I hope the animals are now thriving on the regrowth. We have had a wet year so far, with some flash flooding.
