The Chinese QN506 is the latest crafting event reward from Gaijin, and boy oh boy, is it not worth the grind at all. Compared to other IFVs like the BMP-2M, it is worse in every metric while having a higher battle rating. I don't even think it'll sell well on the marketplace, so don't bother with it. Spend some time with your family instead of playing War Thunder nonstop for something that will ultimately disappoint you.

The fire and forget is from the PoV of the missile. It fires and then forgets what it was supposed to do. At 2:12 the missile just remembered after forgetting.

Just a note; the F&F missiles are thick and quite heavy and they take a few seconds to be airworthy under their own power, meaning that you should angle them upwards by 15-20 degrees elevation to consistently get kills with them. Angling your launchers level or sometimes downwards is going to result in them just falling to the ground, since they don't have the clearance in that case to be used properly.

@@jeremeymcdude sorta yeah, javs are cold launched to protect the firer and optics from getting blasted with motor, they get shot out maybe a meter or two in front of the launcher before it's motor actually ignites. So theey sorta go up and drop down before the motor fires

Spookston I think you should do a gameplay video on the cm11, it’s truly a hidden gem, it has the m1 abrams firing system, and an m48 turret mounted on a m60 body. This gives it a faster reload than the m60, it also makes up for most of the armor loss on the m48 turret by suiting it up in ERA

@@dakotahondalock5621 a hull down tank has NO clear thermal signature (especially from the front) unless its turret is extremely heated by the sun while its surroundings are somehow not. The hottest parts of the tank (engine/exhaust) are hidden while hull down. And at shorter distances the atgm would have to be fired straight up, to get a clear view of the tanks hot parts. But when flying straight up, the seeker of the atgm faces away from ground, so no signature from the tank. There's a reason why laser/radar guided atgms like the hellfire exist.

I may have missed a death or two, but I've counted 283 total deaths from enemy players, with 69 (nice) of those being from CAS, or 24.4%. I expected a higher number, but there were a lot more videos where Spooks only died to tanks when compared to only CAS. Yes, I am a mad man and sat through hours of Spooks content :)

I've heard that adjusting angle of fire on the missile (the big one) helps with its tracking of tanks, especially at close range. I've also heard that the smaller ones are in fact guided rockets which explains their power and size. Could be wrong but maybe this info will help the QN not seem as bad.

The small ones are missiles. You can lock planes and hit them with the small missiles from about 3.5km out, radar guided

Some players on Chinese social media had a theory on why the FOF missiles didn't work as intended. Apparently, for FOF missiles, like the QN and PARS, Gaijin placed a "beacon" near the center mass of each vehicle that these missiles would lock as a target instead of the entire vehicle. Thus unless the "beacon" is exposed, there is no way FOF missiles would lock on a target.

The thing is still fantastic, fire on the move, able to fire with pretty much your whole vehicle hidden behind cover (allowing enough room for the atgm to launch), armor protects against gun runs (unlike other ATGM carriers for the most part) and can allow you to survive perhaps a hit or two or some bombs. I've got a 2.0 KD with it, sitting at 196 kills and 94 deaths (counting air as it can be an effective heli killer). Just gotta deal with pretty meh teams, but worst case, it's still a good brawler for CQC.

Someone on bilibili made a video on how the guidance of fire and forget missiles work in war thunder, apparently there is only a single spot that missiles (tv, radar, IR) will aim for on a tank every single time, and it is generally in between the upper front plate and the turret base, where, you know, the armor is the thickest. Also, if this one single point is not in the line of sight, it will not be locked no matter how obvious it is to you.

Seems like the IR missiles are bugged. The seeker, despite shooting straight up and getting a top-down picture of the target, breaks lock and detonates (unless by some chance it's slaved to the vehicle IRL?). So...bug (I hope)? Hoping same for the commander's sight. As I told my son, it's kinda like they wanted to make sure it wasn't broken OP on release. But if it had been a Premium? They would have made sure it was broken OP. Edit: Whenever I play Premium tier I swear most of my team just follows me around spamming their laser rangefinder until they die and then leave. And I WISH that was hyperbole, altogether too much truth in it.

The S570 loitering bomb is not added. It’s basically a drone with HE warhead. The launcher is the two rectangle boxes next to the cooling fan in the back of the turret base. The QN502 missile has the manual mode in real life.

Tbh I can see it working decently as a spaa, the fire and forget are good to deal with helis at long range and the smaller missiles being easy to lead against closer planes and helis.

I'll be honest, when I test drived it, those weird missles worked better when they had a second to launch compared to launching it of the bat I don't know if the system in the game has a second delay to have better targeting system when it takes a second to launch after locking but I have had it with air to air missles where they'll lock then switch immediately to some random airspace where I don't know where there is an ir signature and it made no sense so yeah but I had better hope for this vehicle

Despite the fire & forget missiles are named ATGM's, you should use them only against Choppers, planes & attack drones cuz if you havent noticed they lock on the engine exhaust & don't track if any thing is in the way.

I just have a question for ya spook, can you tell me how to use commander fire control on pt76b. I have my controls set up and it works for vehicles with computer fire controls in test drive. In battle I can't seem to fire the gun with the commander? Is there a trick is it different somehow? Besides loving to play Wt what am I doing wrong?

from watching the video, I think the big missiles are better used in AA capacity (they hit helis but a lot later), small ones are good for spaming anything on the ground together with the gun

11:25, yeah i get that sometimes too. Played the Amx 50 100 the other day and some light shot me from the back in my engine with a heat round. Crew got overpressured. And on the other hand, a solid 15Kg shell went right through a gunner -> turns yellow. Yeah seems logic to me.
