Plot is very sci fantasy based. It is isnt a romance like quintuplets. Also the ending was planned from the beginning and avoided series dragging out. Luckily they finished vol 19 but sadly probably wont see last 3 volumes adapted. Season 5 won anime of the season on corner which is like the most competitive voting site. In a season stacked with most of the popular isekais and shonens

Honestly, Date a Live was a show that I just watched to have fun and maybe with the hope that the next girl will be good and interesting, only for all of them to be overshadowed by THE BEST CHARACTER AND GIRL OF THE SHOW EVERY SINGLE TIME! But Although I wasn't that hyped about it, Season 5 was FUCKING PEAK! I have never seen a show go from mid to slightly good to ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE in a SINGLE SEASON! This was trully remarkable and had me actually looking forward for the next episode and at the edge of my seat while watching it.

kurumi is the autor first creation he imagine her in high school so of course she gets more screen time, these is from the after words of volume 16: Come to think of it, Kurumi’s the first character created in Date A Live. Although to be precise, the current Kurumi is slightly different; her prototype was designed when I started writing this novel during my second year of high school. A Gothic Lolita with uneven hair and a clock for her left eye. My state of mind was truly beyond description: “This character has potential, and one day I’ll show her to the world.” Ten years later, I still firmly believe in my passion from then. I remember my original draft: she was an artificial magician who had a special clock implanted in her left eye, capable of utilizing particular abilities at the cost of her own lifespan. At the activation of one, the clock would tick faster, causing her to lose an equal amount of her time. As a result, there would be characters other than her who possessed clocks too, but basically those with them on the back of their palms or chests would be more, so only she would have one in her eyeball. Something like that. And of course, Kurumi wouldn't be the main heroine. She’d become the insane sister character targeting the main heroine’s life, saying, “Hihihihihi, ne, Onee-sama?” A line like that, so spine-chilling.

Best part is dal doesnt feel dry and boring. Tachibana is a master at keeping audiences entertained. Konosuba comedy does this but story lacks the conflict to drive it forward. Re zero can get insanely dry at times and story way too long causing the pacing to worsen during later arcs which can make it dry. Dal keeps the story compact and enjoyable all the way Kadokawa really should have done more to market the show. Season 5 especially was heavily undermarketed and it won anime of thr season on corner and sugoi in a seasn crammed with the most popular shonens and isekais. Re zero got marketed so much at this point it drowns kadokawa's other shows

Great video as always lunar. As someone who read LN long time ago 6+ years at this point and also never plan on finishing this after author fucked up and didnt finish the story right after Mio after aka perfect moment to end the story on , I really love this series both music and weird mix of everything mecha , harem and ever awkward comedy I wish the series got better treatment. Funny that you are clowning on Mana when she never had a chance. Mana was written off season 3 , S3 ep 12 crammed whole voolume of LN into single episode and the wrote off the most important part of the whole volume (Itsuda Disaster) aka interaction between Shido and Mana when he was in his (Shin) state , YES THEY WROTE OFF WHOLE FORESHADOWING FOR SEASON 5 TO CRAM MORE FANSERVICE (also wrote off some Elen + Shidou fanservice sad) . Unfortunate but thats how almost all of anime series are, so many series that were trash while on screen being amazing while reading source material (This is rumor which I heard back in the day so dont take it as truth) There is chance for S6 since it was never about popularity in the west S3 and later would have never happend if not series high popularity in China . Back when series was most popular there Kotori (during S2 times) won popularity contest at BiliBili site winning vs Kurumi and others like Tohsaka Rin, Saber and ever character after whom site was named Misaka Mokoto(Biribiri). I am Mikufag deal with it, sad that Miku on Stage side story will never be adapted -_-

I recommend it to you for two reasons: 1. Because it really deserves your time and it deserves that you make a video about it, because it is criminally underrated. I personally consider it ' The Greatest Fighting Anime Of All Time '. 2. Because the CGI in Kengan Ashura is simply 10/10, the best CGI I have seen in the world of anime. In my opinion, if this anime couldn't make you like CGI, then no other anime in the world will be able to do this.

Well, what's best of Date A Live is Shido doesn't just run into casual girlfriends. But even if they were his casual acquaintances he would risk his life saving their lives. Unlike other harem protagonists he treats every date very seriously. That says all about him, hence the DAL spirits also will stick their lives out to let him do the right thing.

Ngl date alive is actually peak story telling besides the whole sis plot. It story it so deep, forshadowing from ep 1. While season 1-3 are kinda mid, season 4-5 are absolute peak. Everything connects and the feel less of haram anime and more of an stein gate/Boku dame ga Inai macho (erased) type of show that really goes deep with it lore and story.

I'm not a fan of harem anime, but I do like slice of life so I have equally bad taste. I watched this one because a friend of mine recommended it to me (they also said I should watch Fairy Tale and High School DxD so I'm not sure what that says about them). Anyway I thought this one was ok, I think my favorite part out of the whole thing was in season three or four. It establishes that the main character, while exceptional isn't special. It kind of establishes that the organization is all over the world and that Shido is not only not the only spirit sealer in the world but isn't the only one in Japan either. However he is still special in that he is probably one of the most successful sealers to date. I really like that kind of stuff in stories, it gives the feeling that the world is still happening with or without the main character being there and the universe doesn't exist just for this one person.

maybe the earlier seasons but the later seasons are like 9 to 10/10. It won best anime of spring 2024 which was far more competitive than fall 2022. I don't think even bleach tybw and berserk golden age arc can pull off that win

​@@clarksmith8830 Season 5 I can understand, but season 4 is a 7/10 at best. They really botched Mukuro's arc so hard, making it the only time watching DAL that I ever feel bored watching. It's a 5 episode slog. They also completely skipped out on covering Shido's past of abandonment issues/paranoia that when the climax of the arc happens and he mentions it for the first (ever) time, it just feels so disingenuous. They screwed it up so hard just so they could rush to covering Kurumi Refrain. And while Kurumi Refrain was fantastic, I can't forgive or overlook almost half a season's worth of slop.

Pretty good vid and fair criticism of the series. The only thing I particularly disagree with you on is Westcott. Westcott is designed and intended to be somewhat of a self-aware parody of cliche, sterotypical, 'intellectual' anime villains. He has quite a few moments throughout the series where his dilogue is very self-aware and borderline wall-breaking. Like as you pointed out, "thank you for making me the victim", or when he starts monologuing to Shido about his "grand" plan for making a Wizard society for him and Ellen, as soon as he finishes he immediately switches to a cheerful tone and goes basically goes "did that sound convincing? I'm suprised she and everyone else believes a motivation that cheesey. The truth is I just like killing people and wanna kill everyone lol". Him coming back after being beaten 3 times in a row seems pretty dumb at first, but honestly it fits what they were going for with Westcott: He's basically the writers taking the piss outta the stereotypical 3rd-act villain boss that doesn't stay down and keeps coming back. He's not very intimidating to the audience, but he's still an active threat and motivator for the story and a very fitting character/villain for this particular series.
