You realise with horror that the person at your stall has taken a number of these items and is running off to the bank.

What a wild set of glitches. Not only do you get an insanely powerful Digimon, but you essentially just "buy" all the triggers to reach the end. The path to Mt. Infinity is already there, all the bosses are dealt with... Crazy how someone figured out those glitch items were just the "keys" to unlock the end.

18:22 Beating Machinedramon with just an ordinary Agumon. Ignore the 2407 offense stat. =) If I was a betting boy, the answer to your question of "It only works once for some reason" is actually right there in the footage. The second the game tried to modify the offense stat it saw that you were over the cap of 999 and pushed your offense back down to within the cap.

Yeah, similar to what happens if you have a Pokemon above lvl 100 and gain exp, it just reverts back to capped lvl~

well, its less a "seeing that something is something" but more a direct capping to the limit everytime it's altered by the game but that's just technicality.

I've seen a similar speedrun of Dark Cloud 2, the game is normal until a point where you reach a shop and the player starts doing weird interactions for 20 minutes, directly affecting the memory of the game, and then warps to the final boss and kill it in one shot. It's always incredible how people manage to reach the inside of a game and how to properly tinker with it in order to put the game in a certain state.

Figuring out that you were using the glitched menus to do ACE was so exciting, you explain it in a really understandable way (as much as I love the in depth ones I doubt I know enough about like PS1 assembly language to follow along)

It's not quite ACE as there is no way to freely input stuff to read as items of commands. We're limited to shifting the area the game reads as shop items from already existing data ranges. The only exception is the inventory slots, hence why the identify of the item in the bottom left spot matters.

It's not quite up to date. Back when the route was made, we had two ways of thought. 1) was glitching offense to beat the boss with the finisher and skip having to evolve and learn techniques and 2) was to evolve and get a spammable attack quickly through glitches. Back when the route was made, 1) was faster but nowadays, new setups made 2) faster. Three relentless challenges you could go for: -Get a Monzaemon from a Numemon without using the toy town costume. -Get a Sukamon and get it to turn into an Etemon without the Banana. -Get a Nanimon and get it to turn into a Digitamamon without the Mystic Egg. The stat penalties and the brutal stat reduction upon evolving your rookie into these digimon makes evolving onto their corresponding ultimate very difficult with Nanimon being the most brutal since the discipline is so low he randomly dumps a ton of stat points. -Side note: Digitamamon's Finisher is the strongest in the game, but it picks a RANDOM target... Even HIMSELF, so it's possible to be winning, use your finish, and then commit "sudoku". On the flipside, Digitamamon is considered the strongest obtainable digimon in the game due to his stat layout, technique pool, and the fact that he has the longest guard animation of any digimon, rendering him potentially immune to unlimited attacks performed by opponent digimon.
