Except when our power point was installed we were told to plug into the wall first not the car...

My Zoe has a problem charging so using this charge point is very much far from simple and not fast when you take account of the need for the car to rest for 8 hours before it will restart charging - see below. Does anyone know anything about problems with charging that fits this pattern: If I plug in my Zoe after driving, it will fail to charge after about 2 to 3 hours, pause for about 8 hours, then restart charging and charge to full. On the other hand, at the first time if I charge it for about 2 kWh then drive it in and out of the garage, put it back on charge the second charge will continue uninterrupted. It seems that if the car rests before putting it onto charge, then it stands a better chance of charging to full (but I am not completely sure about this working reliably yet). Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? Renault UK are only interested in proving that it can charge, but I need to know why it can't. Others have this problem, so it is a known problem with the ZE40, even if Renault UK are trying their best to say that it is not. If you encounter unexpected ends of charge, ensure that any testing is done in exactly the same conditions of charge that you follow and do not allow the diagnosing dealer to leave the car resting when you take it to them to test charging.

yes i'm going to get a car that came out one and half years ago and i have to drive it in to the city to charge it ( I hate this ad I've had it five times in a row)

That charging rate is not actually that fast anymore. Compare it to Tesla's superchargers which get 80% in 40 minutes and have a much larger battery pack.

And it takes me all of 2 minutes to fill my diesel tank for 500-600 miles. :/

Well yes but you don't have to stand over the car to charge it. Plug it in when you get home, wake up and the car is at 100%. And no high cost of refuelling

Apart from the fact it takes longer to connect the cable and then unplug than it does to fill a tank from empty and, I didn’t need a diesel pump fitted at my home either.

"if you're connected to a fast charge point..." which are currently only place in large, major cities. So if you're living in Hull or Manchester, you're screwed. "80% in just 1 hour" Why not 100%, Lazy Renault Techs? "90 miles in temperate conditions..." wait, so there's only enough charge in it for 90 miles driving? Finally, why her? At least her someone who looks better than the car... #renault

Don’t buy an EV car - not until you have checked all is ok with your home power supply. BP Chargemaster came yesterday to install a unit but the engineer left saying as I lived in a pre 1930’s house it would be too difficult, so there goes my dream of owning a Renault Zoe!
