The Quilt-as-you-go Chronicles Ep 3: Applique Work, rainy days in our studio

This is episode 3 of The Quilt-as-you-go Chronicles; in the next ten episodes, we will make a mystery quilt-as-you-go quilt called I, Valentine. Each week we will construct a section of the quilt and show you lots of tips and techniques, as well as delving into all things quilt as you go and sewing. In this series, you will learn how to machine applique, free-motion quilt, and quilt on a home sewing machine. Also, you will discover two great methods for quilt as you go and see how we make an entire quilt from start to finish on our domestic sewing machine. hi, I am enjoying your quilting journey. would you consider removing the lid off of your sewing machine? have you considered using a scan n cut to cut out your applique pieces? cheers

Thanks! No, I wouldn't remove the lid of my sewing machine because it protects it from dust when I'm not sewing. I actually have a Scan n Cut, I should get it out and use it but I think that by the time I remember how to use it I could have all of the pieces cut out. I really should use it though, maybe it could be a future video.

Hi, I have the identical sewing machine and the lid just pops off and is replaced after you finished sewing , it takes 10 seconds to do so. the manual show you how.

We have lots of other tutorials that aren’t about appliqué, have you seen our Island Home quilt series, that has many patchwork blocks, we also have our stitch n flip QAYG block series. I’ll try and make our next quilt video a patchwork one.❤️

I love this method, I use it a lot. This is MUCH easier. I say often it's like a making a puzzle.
