No don't stop, keep making your blocks, they are adorable. The fabrics work really well together. I didn't care for your fabric choice until you showed the blocks you made with them. Don't add those other fabrics. If anything,you could add a sashing in a blender fabric, 2 or 3 shades lighter then your darkest color. Sell your quilt or give it to someone. They will love it, even if you don't!😍

Thanks for the tips! I am thinking to carry on but switch out the block that has turned out a little small.

Sometimes a lovely 'quiet' quilt is just as delightful as a bright loud one. I think you're blocks are lovely.
@juliemansell325911 ай бұрын
Yes and i am so used to bold colours, this might be why it is looking quiet to me.

If that happened to me, I would make one more block, put some sashing , cornerstones and borders around them and make it into a baby quilt, either to donate or save for a future baby. Then take the rest of the yardage and that beautiful designer roll, and make something stunning. I wouldn’t remake the block that was so challenging

I agree with the not redoing the block that was a challenge I didn't like doing it and thought it used a lot of fabric

you said you had enough of the original materials, so keep on going with them. They look really good. Perhaps you are too close to them to appreciate them. truely, they look lovely. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you, I must admit when I saw them in the video I did like them better

I do not see a problem...not at all! I like the fabrics, and the limited variations. I am one that really prefers the "lack" of contrast to lots of contrast and busy-ness. To me, I appreciate the texture and the quilting so much more when there is less going on. It's more of a homey feel to me. I say carry on with your original plan! You'll love it so much more once it's bound and quilted! Seriously! I watched this video thinking to myself, what's the problem? ;)

I understand I had a top I really didnt like and wasn't going to send it for quilting, but when it came back she had wielded her magic on it and now I love it. This one from memory has a decent sashing in-between the blocks so i think I am over thinking things.

That’s a tough call. I like the blocks, but I think you could put a solid grey/taupe, like the background of the darker fabric, or a contrast like the pinkish, carmine red-ish color of your designer roll. I see why you like those fabrics, and I see the point that made you think “ehhh… maybe too similar…” It’s lovely, just the same. I have a few quilts that I had to stop because I just wasn’t happy with them. Sometimes you just have to step away for a time and explore another group of fabrics to renew your fire for the previous fabrics. I also like the idea of adding a sashing, that could be the right idea.

Yes I agree even just talking about it and seeing the block on video is making me like it more, I might just replace the block I don't like which has come out a bit small with another block, problem solved

I'm thinking that maybe you could ad 4:42 zom lighter colors to the upcoming block patterns to provide more contrast and just work in some of the fabrics from the other collection. This will make it have a more scrappy look and the first blocks you made will blend in with the newer blocks. You might want to check the seam allowance on some of the blocks that are not the expected size. I've had an occasional experience with cutting instructions being a bit off. What I did was to figure out how I can use customized sashing so that the finished blocks were the same size, then sew them together. If all the sashings are the same color, the difference in the block sizes won't be so noticable. If you still are unhappy with it, you could give it to a charity. Y

How did that autocorrect think that would make sense??? I hope that this helps anyway 🙂

I would not make any more of those blocks. You have enough fabric there to make a nice quilt once you add some contrast with light and dark blenders (enough mid tones and busy prints already). That first block would make a nice hot pad or trivet. The house blocks are really cute maybe for a tote bag pocket. Consider a bit of seam ripping on the other one to add contrast to that pinwheel (or just add to orphan blocks) I Definitely would not add that beautiful new design roll into the bunny fabric. Totally different feel (more artsy) and that maybe could use a few nice solids for contrast also. Best wishes in whatever you decide!

thinking again about the designer roll I think you are right I love those fabrics to do something on their own

If it was me, I would start over. If you are not happy with what you have done so far, why continue? I would use the new fabric and the 4 original pieces and make something great!! 😊

Disappearing nine patch on point and pillows out of these blocks and done.

i might try that block I have watched a few videos but not given it a go
@Stoffmonster46711 ай бұрын
It's an easy and impressive quilt pattern, but it needs a little bit of calculation. You cut up that nine patch in quarters, that means your accent (apricot in your colourway?) In the center as it will be a quite smaller square at the end. The middle of the outer rows a "boring" fabric, the outer squares will be your most loved designs. I made two very impressive but easy quilts that way.

Well, I watched the 2nd video first. After seeing this one, I believe i would pass these blocks to someone else. I thought the houses were mushrooms. No, there just isn't enough contrast; I don't believe the additional fabrics would help. I'm so sorry, that was a lot of time and effort. Happens to all of us😢
@juliemansell325911 ай бұрын
thanks for your input, I am still pondering I think some of the blocks will end up in the orphan block pile. i often wonder what a quilt would look like made from orphan blocks, maybe one day I will find out, or as you say donate them. Looking at the quilting block of the month again i am thinking i dont actually like the end product so maybe i just start again with another project.
@brendabiery32411 ай бұрын
I think you could use more fabrics so your pinwheels would be better defined. And maybe not make anymore of the difficult and wasteful blocks.
@juliemansell325911 ай бұрын
Yes i agree with you
@charlenecook671011 ай бұрын
No. There's not enough contrast. Don't think the new jelly roll is going to help with isdue.

I am going to check out the sashing for this quilt i am thinking that might solve the problem, but i understand what you're saying
