Greatest goal scorer right now for sure. Of all time? He's got a shot but he needs to have seasons similar to this for about another ten years. It's possible.

He’s 20-something goals ahead of where ovi was at the same games played. Early on I was worried about his shoulder injury, but he’s been fine for a long time now. If he stays healthy and keeps scoring 50-60+ each year (40 with an injured wrist, 60 before that, only going up) he’ll definitely pass it. Special note: if marner stays with him 😅😅 It’s literally just longevity that’s the question

Greatest scorer in history Mike Bossy. In 9 year injury shortend career had 5, 60 plus goal seasons, 3, 50 plus goal seasons. An injuy shortend last season 38 goals. Average.75 goals a game. Mathews in the .6's and Bossy in a 9 year career made it too the cup 5 straight years and won it 4 straight of those. How many cup finals does Mathews have never mind cups? How many 60 goal seasons does Mathews have? Hate current sports guys oh this guy is the best now or that guy. Bossy did it with 3 ton skates. A wood stick. A red line. No touch up off sides. And the clutching and grabbing of that era. Mathews isn't even close to being the best goal scorer and to suggest that on a sports station is joke. Like really give your head a shake.

Gretzky's and Bossy's time NHL 8 goals per game! So easy to score! Ovechkin and Matthews ERA only 6 goals per game! So much difficult to score today!!

@@RaineriHakkarainen I think with bigger more highly skilled players and defensive coaching - it likely is best to separate players from this century (OV, Matthews and McDavid). Just say they are the best goal scorers in this century.😀

Really? Mike Bossy had 5, 60 plus goal seasons 3, 50 plus goal seasons. And in his shortened injury last season 38 goals in a 9 year career. 5 straight cup finals 4 straight cup wins. In an era with horrible skates. Wood sticks.a red line, no touch up off sides. And much more violent and Clutching and grabbing. Plus Bossy averaged like .75 goals a game. Mathews is in the .6's still being young and no drop off yet. Mathews is not the greatest scorer of all time already. Not even close.

Mike bossy also played in an era where games averaged 2 more goals per game. Goalies were sporting save percentages that would get you kicked out of the league today. So all that clutching, grabbing and wood sticks didn't compare to the big athletic goalies in todays NHL. I do agree with you about not being the greatest yet though, that suggestion is just silly. He does have a chance to be if he stays healthy throughout his career..@D

@@craigharrison5406 Really Patrick Roy yup horrible goalie from the 80's era. Dominic Hasek who's that guy? Yup such horrible goalies. Late 70's who is that Ken Dryden guy. Tony Esposito what a hack. Give your head a shake. Game was slower had no two line passes. When offside was offside could not tag up. Wood sticks give Mathews a wood stick and 3 billion pounds of skates see how he does. Less teams talent not stretched out. Look at Arizona now. Columbus now. Jokes to go into. So please 80's much harder to score. You come across the ice with no two line passes Scott Stevens waiting for you and see what happens. Lindros found out real quick. Mathews would be on a stretcher in 1982. Watch the Salming documentary and see what it was like then.

Man’s had a few really good years, but he’s also had injury issues from a young age. He’s gonna need to not just perform but also play consistently over the next ten years to get there and I have my doubts about that

Yes he has a lot of goals... he is not the greatest goal scorer. It is special that he has zero empty net goals. That has never been done by an nhl top scorer.
