Thats why I feel blessed that I am a Arab and a Arabic speaker who is also muslim. yes Standard arabic is different than the quran but there are like 60-70% similarities also its easy to understand/comprehend new words when you already know the language and actually understanding it makes it really beatiful. Its not even about Arabs, I know some who dont speak arabic yet I met some chinese Muslims in Mecca who spoke clear Arabic to me. Its a blessed and beatiful language and learning it even as a non-Muslim would be nice but its really hard even as a native Speaker I am telling you its hard.

@@maestro186 Okay, I got something! At 1:24, Arabic101 was talking about a word "flattened". Now "flat" and "flattened" do not have same meaning. Of course, one is adjective while other is verb, thus have different meaning. However, in geometry, there is a term called "flattening" which is a property of an ellipsoid, not of a flat surface (similar word also used in other languages). Ellipsoids are 3d version of an ellipse, where "flattening" is synonymous to "eccentricity in 3d". If you decrease flattening of an ellipsoid, it become more sphere-like. If you increase flattening of an ellipsoid, it become more flat-like. Now if any two of the axial radius become equal, the ellipsoid will turn into another thing called spheroid. So, maybe the Quran is talking about ellipsoid (or spheroid) earth, which is more accurate description of earth.

خلق السماوات والأرض بالحق يكور الليل على النهار ويكور النهار على الليل وسخر الشمس والقمر كل يجري لأجل مسمى ألا هو العزيز الغفار The verse is clear, as it speaks about the creature of the night and the creature of the day. What does the earth have to do with the behavior of night and day? You might say that night and day rotate around the earth. But who told you that night and day exist only on the earth? Rather, they are heavenly creations أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا (27) رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا (28) وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا (29) وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا "Aghtasha laylaha" means the night of the sky. So, does God's saying "He wraps the night over the day" also imply that the sky is spherical? What is the meaning of "yukawir" in the Quran? If you say it means that something becomes spherical, then here you are confirming that the sun is not currently spherical in shape إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ (1) وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ ... So, from the terrors of the Day of Judgment, the sun will be wrapped. Does that mean the sun will become spherical on that day? If so, what is its shape now? The early scholars differed on the shape of the earth, especially after the members of the astronomical body affiliated with the authority reached a consensus on the earth being spherical. Some scholars agreed with the consensus of this body, which translated Ptolemy's Greek book on astronomy, stating that the earth is stationary and the center of the universe, but spherical in shape. Some scholars did not oppose the astronomical body on the earth's sphericity. The issue arises when some mix the consensus of the astronomical body affiliated with the ruling authority with the consensus of religious scholars, mistakenly believing that the members of the body are Islamic scholars. In reality, the astronomical body was under the authority of the ruling power, similar to today's official institutions that echo what NASA says. The scholar who believed the astronomical body would say, "The astronomical body has reached a consensus," not "the scholars have reached a consensus." This scholar would then justify their claim of a spherical earth by saying that this does not necessarily contradict the verses, as the earth appears flat to the observer. There is no verse that explicitly indicates the earth's sphericity. There are other scholars who disagreed with the astronomical body, saying their reference is the Book of God. Among these dissenters was the author of the book "Tafsir al-Khazin," who said : وَهُوَ الَّذِي مَدَّ الْأَرْضَ "...and He is the one who spread out the earth, meaning He stretched it over the surface of the water..." until he said, "According to the astronomers, the earth is a sphere, and it can be said that if the sphere is vast and immense, each part of it would appear as if it is stretched out like a large, vast surface. This was the reconciliation made by the astronomers. However, God has informed us that He spread out the earth, shaped it, and stretched it, and all of this indicates the flattening of the earth. And God, the Exalted, is more truthful in speech and clearer in evidence than the astronomers." So, the shape of the earth became a matter of disagreement among scholars, not because the verses were unclear, but due to the influence of the astronomical body members who followed what was found in the translated works of the Greek mathematician and astronomer Ptolemy. As for the stability of the earth and its position as the center of the universe, this was a point of consensus among the scholars, as well as among the members of the astronomical body. There was no disagreement between them on the earth’s stability and centrality.

Even in English "earth" is a synonym for "ground" and "land". there is even such a thing as "poured earth". Poured earth is defined as earthen concrete, fluid, so it cannot be compacted, and has stone aggregate within its composition.

There are other scientific phenomena in the Quran that do not fits with flat earth, such as movement of mountain (Surah An-Naml:88) and mountain roots (Surah Luqman:10). It is a geological phenomena and flat earthers has no explaination of this. Flat earth has no geological activites. Also the expansion of universe do not fits with flat earth model. People who saying that earth is flat according to quran, then does these ayat wrong?

The word سطحت doesn't mean flattened in early Arabic, Sath, سطح in Arabic is not a shape, it's a place, the upper outside of every shape, or what is translated to "Surface", so the verse means that God has made a surface to the earth, without that surface the earth would be a gas planet like Jupiter.

We know today that Earth is not flat. The famous islamic astronomers even measured the Earth. This is truth, wich is one of or most important word in Qur'an (one of God's names and thing with wich he created Universe and gave us the book). If something is true you must find an explanation in Qur'an for that. All other explanations are wrong and misleading. دَحَىٰهَآ is a word which is usled to explain how a ostrich makes its nest (spherical).

no, the earth is indeed flat and stationary and it's not a spinning ball and that's what the Qur'an literally says. and many Muslims today believe that the earth is flat. look it up, earliest scholars believed and said it is flat and u can look for that. when we say flat we don't mean it is a flying disc in the space because there's no space either, there are heavens above the earth, 7 of them, and 7 earths as the Qur'an and Hadith says. and no one knows the overall shape nor dimensions of the creation except for Almighty Allah. look it up.

This indicates that the earth comes after the sky.....The ostrich’s nest is called adhi because it is spread out like the face of the earth.". This is his tafsir for 88:20 "* this is in reference to the Arabs* They used to ride camels alone, isolated from people. Someone like this would think about what was happening around him. He might look at his mount, then look up to the sky and then to the earth. So they were ordered to look at these things, for they are the clearest evidence of the Creator, the Chosen One, the Able."

The planets(we see today) as dieties(guys in dhoti and golden chains) Earth was picked up by a board god... Earth was on a serpent Earth sank in the ocean once Universe was born from an egg But they also mention about spherical earth... They also had a small idea about gravity.. They knew medical stuff made from herbs.. Vast philosophy.. They knew astronomy(just like the Greeks) They knew bout mathematics just like the Greeks... What I'm trying to say is philosophy is vast....it can say anything... bullshit to nearly the fact.... Hindus will never understand this.. Btw it's coming from a hindu

Actually it does affect the prayer. When you are in north west America, the qibla is north east across the north pole over Europe towards Arabia. Were the earth flat the qibla in Western Canada would be towards south east instead of north east

You are not praying to qibla, you are praying to Allah, qibla is just a direction to guide the prayer
