I moved to Chennai a month back to start my new job as a data scientist. Haven't been able to befriend anyone here yet. It's a new place. Asked a few of my colleagues if they would go out to watch Rocketry. I was very excited for this movie. Everyone replied in denial. No one had any expectations from Madhavan. No one was interested in knowing about Nambi. I was disappointed and shocked. But I decided to watch the movie. It was my first time going to a movie hall all by myself. And I don't regret any second of it. This movie warmed my heart. And Madhavan has shined like a diamond in this movie. Everyone must watch this!

true man...as a tamilian i stopped watching or u could say showing interest in tamil movies when i was 12 becoz i was just starting to see more and more hollywood and got interested more into realism and logicness and creativity...i used to know madhavan from few of his movies and nothing more but now after this interview i got a lot of respect for him and it's really incredible the depths he went through...few months ago, i thought at this point of modernization there must be some writers out there getting inspired by hollywood movies and trying to provide us with that high quality movie and not introducing sequels to a movie where it's most definitely that sequel won't be continuous to the previous film and without any cringey fights or 3-5 songs in between movie and finally now i know why... it's these producers huh...i have high hope for indian industry if ppl like him exists more

Madhavan is possibly one of the best artists we still have today from India. I definitely recommend looking into his Tamil work in particular (I feel like it's often overlooked by general non-Tamil audiences). Particularly films like Kannathil Muthamitaal (this FOR SURE!!), Ayutha Ezhuthu, Vikram Vedha, Irrudhi Suttru, and Maara (yes, I know this is a remake but his performance is really good in my opinion!). Edit: I also want to add Anbe Sivam, co-starring Kamal Hassan too!!

I recommend Kannathil Muthamitaal which is on Netflix - possibly one of my favourite films with Madhavan. It's directed by Mani Ratnam and co stars Simran (who is also in the Nambi Effect) and Nandita Das with the music by AR Rahman.

Many of his tamil films were also shot in Hindi because he can speak fluently in Hindi and those are not Bollywood production.
