My drum mentor/friend and I used to watch and study your videos since 2010. We had fun and really excited to try all the new learnings from your videos. I just turned 29 years old last OCT 31. And here I am, still watching your videos and discovering even more cool stuff. Sadly, my mentor passed away last year. And I always remember him when I see you upload. Thank God for you life, Sir Mike. God bless you always.
I don't miss any video of yours, and the are several reasons why, but this is the ultimate: you really know how to teach and how to make us understand what you are teaching. Thank you, Mike!

Thank you Mike for always providing us with new ideas! I found a fun way to remember and get a feel for the pattern. Use this fill with 16th notes as the main beat of this Latin feel tune: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4CxqnWembiNbrMsi=VXg1vLE42hHmgM9o It also helps imagine variations as I tend to add the bass drum on the first beat or put in four bass drum kicks before the first beat. Once you run through this song a few times you can try to MJ it as 32nd notes.
@BrianSmith-hl5qh2 ай бұрын
I’m an intermediate drummer I say that with both pride and humility. Some of the chops & grooves I can never play completely or up to speed but the pieces, partial phases are very cool and fit into my playing and abilities, also some the the 32nd stuff sounds great as 16th’s.
@mikeslessons2 ай бұрын
Absolutely! ALL the 32nd notes stuff can and should be played as 16ths. You got this Brian :)

you can also augment this stuff - I can't do double kicks that quickly (due to a physical limitation) so I substitute floor toms and it sounds great!
@paulrevelli2 ай бұрын
If you move the accented R on beats two and four of the fill from the hi hat over to the snare you won't lose the backbeat. Maybe then you could use it on a Beatles tribute gig (just kidding 😆).
