Given Ubi's recent track record, the fact they haven't said anything about whether or not Membership items are retained past the end of renewal is worrying to me. Removing the items from accounts if you stop paying sounds insane but they've repeatedly shown us insanity isn't something they're scared of.

I don’t like the subscription. This one has that “if you don’t renew you miss out” vibe that people buy and regret after. Ultimately, you’re playing $30 for a legendary set, some epic sets that might be good or bad we don’t know,some loot boxes, and battle-pass tiers you can get for free. That should just be a pack, not a subscription. Edit: that was my reaction when i saw the pass, didn’t expect kudos to touch on my concerns and pretty much agree lol

Fortnite's membership works because it's a free game and it's not limited to what the can do for their cosmetics; Siege is not a free game with tons of microtransactions including battle passes, limited time event bundles, and more; it's cosmetics ARE limited to each specific operator; and the operators they are giving cosmetics to are targeted to the players that fed off of the TDM meta to keep them on the game longer. Edit: Not to mention they are releasing this during one of, if not, the most lackluster season ever in the game's history. So instead of focusing on community specific issues, or giving us new maps, weapons, or operators, they'd rather try to poach more money out of it's community and recycle content from years ago, taking an EA type of route.

I just think its too expensive. I buy the premium battle pass every season, because in general its pretty cheap, £4 every 3 months for a game I play all the time is pretty good. But the membership is just full of stuff I don't care for, like packs and the battle pass levels. You'd be essentially paying £30 for one good skin, which is subjectively not better than the ones you can get in the battle pass anyway. You pay 6x as much for what? 1 good skin?

I am a bit concerned about the whole 10 battle pass levels per month. I have never had issues with reaching max level on the BP with up to half the season left to go. If they are going to give monthly levels for the subscription then that just encourages them to nerf that progress for those without the subscription to "encourage" more people to subscribe or have to grind even more, and especially with a season like this next one where there is no real content that grind might be too much for many.

I remember back when Apex came out and they brought out the battle pass, and that was like some 'you have to play 6+ hours a day to complete this' kind of shit. The entire point of having just one part of the Legendary bundle available per month is to create a sense of FOMO and to keep players subscribed for the rest of the months in order to redeem the complete set. This strategy might make sense if there were something to grind for, like the Thermite Headgear as a Rank Reward. Instead, in this case, we're just paying money every month to complete a cosmetic set, like mortgage payments. It's frustrating because nothing apart from the Legendary set excites any of us, which could easily have been part of the battlepass, and we'll end up paying $30 just for some in-game cosmetics. The designs are lazy, and this is another way for Ubisoft to increase their revenue stream despite all the other monetary avenues already in the game. It's a poor business strategy from the Ubisoft execs, especially in a season where there is nothing substantial provided in terms of content. Ubisoft continues to milk the cash cow that is Siege, using tactics that borderline extort the player base that keeps this game alive despite the lack of new content.

I just think that launching a subscription (inherently predatory) during a season that mirrors operation health in terms of amount of content is not only bad optics in general, but just really rounds out the stereotype that Siege is the most monetized game Ubisoft currently makes. If they were launching with new ops, maps, etc.. I feel like people wouldn't be nearly as mad, but at the same time people are just tired of being expected to spend money for a game they likely already spend money on seasonally. Ive watched about 2/3ds of the way through but if you didn't say it I'd also swap out the leveling skips for even just 600 R6 credits a month on renewal-I'd much rather have 1200- but I'm being realistic. The level skips are a dead reward. If you're paying 10 dollars a month on this game, you don't need em. Hell, Ironic Sieges battlepass is one of the least grindy passes around. Out of everything happening with siege I just love the fact that THEY reworked the recuits, nerf solis and fenrir(some might say too much) and made us respect them abit more then destroyed that same respect with the reveal of a subscription(tho it were interesting when we first saw the wqrden legendary skin) when they showed the roadmap, damn it felt like accidentally dropping a loaded gun but miraculously catching it before it hit the ground... I agree with your comments on the membership - however, even with these changes I dont support pushing a subscription model at this point. They are asking for more money when: A - They aren't really releasing any new content this season B - Despite what they say, cheaters are running rampant right now. Even if their numbers are accurate, the fact that so many people are feeling the effects of cheaters indicates they are being outpaced - which is honestly even more concerning. C - Their ranked 2.0 system (which they heavily push their player-base to play) is hated by most people, and has been highly request to be rolled back. D - Their are systems they've already announced, and supposedly already put time into, but have delayed for "reasons". Overall, I think memberships is an okay path to eventually take - however, to announce it right now just communicates greed over listening to to their playerbase.

Your points are super valid.I used to play Fortnite a lot and I had the crew and it was worth it you got enough In game currency to buy a skin, the battle pass for free and a decent skin all that for 10 pound a month is amazing for a game if your committed to it but seige just looks kinda lazy with the monthly skins it looks like there just doing it as an experiment but if they play this right they will make a lot of money but so far it's not looking great. Exactly...the issue is that there is so much monetisation in this game but 9 out of 10 times, it's just cheap recolors or very bad CGI looking operator portraits ....this membership, also the battlepasses...all battlepass portraits were bad so far CGI quality-wise if you compare them how the older default portraits look...(even the quality of Elite portraits went down as their skin is often too smooth and the lightning looks cheap)...all battlepass have 1 unique uniform (most of the time for Smoke or Lion...some ops like Gridlock or Clash don't have any skins besides recolors) and the rest are just recolors (either default recolor or Event skin recolors) ...I'm more than happy to financially support one of my favorite games but the quality rarely matches the price ubi wants for their stuff

My concern is that this is a very predatory monetization system. I unlock the full set… after three months? So to encourage me to keep the membership, instead of giving me more content, I am paying more to get less over a longer time frame? Battle passes were one thing. One of the things that irks me the most about the membership is that it's a paid game! Every single game that has a membership like Fortnite is free to play! You pay anywhere from $20 to $40 for the game and then they're expecting you to pay like $12.99 a month? If it was a free game I would happily dump money for cosmetics to help support the developers. And I've bought skins because I have over 5k hours but it's ridiculous to expect any casual or medium investment players to pay that much every month for a game they already paid money for. They need to make rainbow free to play if they're going to pursue this much in-game micro transaction otherwise it's not fair to the consumer.

I'm afraid if this membership is successful, then other companies are going to implement this system in other games the same way that battlepasses and loot boxes worked their way into the industry. Honestly props to Kudos for actually giving some genuine feedback on the membership that Ubisoft could very well use. Aside from my own opinion, it very well could work if they make these cosmetics worth it. Look at GTA+ in GTA Online which does it right by actually giving things like a good deal of money per month and discounts on vehicles that are vaild. My stance on the membership is that of negative because I understand the business side of it and all but Siege (in my opinion) should've stayed away from this given the reception it has gotten. Really hot take: r6 has always had shit skins out of any shooter games. Even tho I have gotten some elite bundles, they still don’t look as good as what other shooters have.
