FOR ANYONE PREPARING TO COMMENT THAT MY PC IS LOW END, I AM WELL AWARE BUT IT IS CAPABLE OF RUNNING CYBERPUNK 2077 ON MEDIUM AT 60FPS AND FORTNITE ON HIGH QUALITY AT 90FPS. I CONSIDER THOSE MEDIUM - HIGH QUALITY GAMES. I AM AWARE I CANNOT RUN EVERY GAME ON ULTRA SETTINGS AT 240 FPS. I AM ALSO AWARE I DO NOT HAVE AN RTX 4090 AND THEREFORE NOT EVERY GAME WILL RUN PERFECTLY ON MY COMPUTER. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD DO NOT HAVE COMPUTERS CAPABLE OF RUNNING ULTRA HIGH QUALITY GAMES SO I ASSUMED PEOPLE WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN I SAY MY COMPUTER CANNOT RUN A GAME IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT EVERYBODY IS INCAPABLE OF RUNNING SAID GAME. Just wanted to get that out of the way because I'm sick of providing the same response to everyone 😢

The lag in the games that you call is called STUTTERS from low frames per seconds its not from the server. And the thing that you show in the pictures is a laptop not a PC: you would of got way more fps on a desktop machine with those specs.(Also stickers on Laptops increase Heat but are really cool I must admit :D)

I think the reason why a lot of people like the idea of 3D Terraria is because Terraria itself is fantastic with all the biomes, mobs, items and bosses.. now imagine all of that from a first person view or a third person view, simply the idea of a 3D Terraria boss is so badass. Terraria is cool and when people like something they want more of it which is why these 3D Terrarias exist and why many people (including me) are making comics/mangas of this game. Great video man, very fun! I've been actually working on my own 3d version of Terraria using Unreal engine, but it has no bulding/exploration, just boss fights. Its pretty much Terraria Souls!

About the 3D terraria game, linesway recently re-worked the game from the ground up to have better cave generation, hence the difference between the dev footage fps and gameplay fps

Yeah T3D is working on optimization, a 1080 is recommended for 60 FPS right now though. The available alpha is an extremely old version and things have been updated a lot.

I think the best way to make 3D Terraria (at least in minecraft) would be making a lot of small mods with mecanics of mobs and mobs: - mods for the killcount-banners - mods for the bosses - mods for normal creatures (skipping alredy exstisting creatures and just adding variants) - mods for events - mods for npcs - and everything related to blocks, tools, armor and furniture

It's funny when I hear people talk about how amazing a 3d T would be. And don't get me wrong, if that is the next official release. i will be playing it. But what you gain in a 3D environment, you lose in combat. Unless the 3D version of Terraria was in a way zoomed out 3rd person. There will be no "behind you" battles like a good 2d game. If T's gameplay were the same in the 3D game, you would be getting destroyed from behind all the time. 3D games mostly make your back side less attacked, Just so you can enjoy the game. Where the biggest attack from behind gives you a warning of some sort on the screen. Hard to explain with words, but you almost loose a dimension (behind you) when you go 3D. To me one of the best things about T is the amazing "all around you" style of combat. Even though it's only 2d, it feels more complex than most 3d game encounters. Which is always based in front of you. Maybe a rear view mirror equipment? lol.

Okay, this video was informative and it shared alot of Points i can relate to, and also the performance issues and slightly deceiving gamedev footage for the 3D terraria (the "realistic" one) Was good to know. One thing i don't understand is how people are making fun of your pc like That sounds like something i would upgrade to any day in a swift swoop. But from personal experience, having a lower end pc for making games at least ensures it's optimized, while a high end pc can make the developer's put optimizing aside and for later, as what im guessing happened with the 3D terraria alpha. I was personally dissapointed myself about the terrariacraft mod being laggy in a way no other forge mod has been for me. This video was high quality, enjoyable, and informative, Keep up your good work.

Sadly my computer is about 4 years outdated so most people don't know too much about that era of graphics card (I assume) it actually holds up pretty well performance wise. Cyberpunk runs at medium 60fps and games like Fortnite push 90 on high quality. Guess some people gotta do some research lmao

The Minecraft mod being laggy might be due to the world generation spawining gravity affected blocks without anything to hold them. If you walk all the way to the beach, you'll see all the sand trying to fall down into the underworld before everything stops working. Tho that might have been just be a fluke when I tried it.

I think some of the big reasons for wanting 3d terraria would be the insanity certain fights could bring due to having a 3 dimensional space, partially inspired by some of the fanart of bosses. Take for example the eater and destroyer bosses, in vanilla you can see all around you at once making tracking where it comes from very easy and limits its ability to maneuver around you, in 3d both of these would be adjusted as you can't look everywhere at once and the extra plain of movement allows it greater flexibility in movement if programmed well.

While we’re all in the great race to put Terraria into the third dimension, let’s never forget that Total Miner _was_ the original 3D Terraria, and just like how Minecraft and Terraria were both the same basic block-building sandbox game from two different perspectives yet had totally different auxiliary feature-sets, Total Miner essentially being 3D Terraria was no different to that formula, with Minecraft’s limited durability on tools, weapons, armor and-as its new addition way back then-shields, and Terraria’s ability to have NPCs in even your Survival worlds (that’s right, they weren’t exclusive to Adventure worlds like you might’ve been thinking), not having to use vanity clothing over your character’s “skin” since armor never showed up on the player’s body in the first place, and even having trinkets on your character and a leveling system to break new blocks and even get to the point where you can literally cheat in Survival mode just by using the Script Block-we’re talking _actually_ reaching Godmode in this game here. terraria-craft seems like such a no-brainer, since there's already so many similarities it should cut out a lot of the work from building something from scratch. I do wonder if they will try to match the block size, probably the easiest way would be changing the player model to 2x3 instead of 1x2 and then just leaving the blocks themselves alone

If the 3D terraria that is HD were made in pixelated polygons, it would be the best of the three. That would kill more than one bird with one stone. You shouldn't worry about how to make each texture thoroughly. You wouldn't worry so much about performance issues. You wouldn't worry so much that it doesn't look faithful to the game, since the polygons and pixels give more room to the viewer's imagination so that they can put together what they see with their imagination. And on top of that it would look much better and immersive, ironically. Terraria looks better with lower graphics

The Terraria mod for Minecraft is just miles ahead, even with 2 bosses. Hope it keeps being worked on. A complete overhaul mod like this is probably better made in Minetest rather than minecraft though

There are a lot of Aspects i really like in Terraria, which are better than in Minecraft. For one, the journey modes item duplication that you must earn, before being able to create those items. If comes to building in survival, there is just so many things you have to look for and gather. Most of the Time you do not get enough of the ressources to build properly. There is the ProjectE Mod that gives a comparable feature though. The existence of Money that is being dropped by Enemies, with which you can just buy things is also feeling better than the trading system in Minecraft. Most of the time it is really a hastle to look what you need to trade etc. and having a limited inventory. Speaking of Inventory, the void bag from terraria is also a quite useful thing, which is missing in minecraft. Then there is the durability of items. Terraria has none, which makes it very userfriendly. In Minecraft however, normally, your items are breaking left and right. Currently i m testing the Dawncraft Modpack in Minecraft, as it is one of the more popular Modpacks. Difficulty wise it is quite hard. Especially because of the durability and the lack of good repair mechanics, as for me, repairing with a third of the cost of the item each time is still a bit too costy. Then there is the NPCs,,, in Minecraft it is nice that you can, in theory, have a lot of NPCs etc. However i do really like the possibility for NPCs to get to you Village by unlocking them. For example there could be an item in Minecraft that you can put on the door or in the room to tell this is an NPC Building. Like in Dragonquest Builders 2. Well i could go on and on about this, but i think this is enough wall of text :D

An ideal 3D terraria to me anyway would probably be something similar that functions like and looks like skyrim not some sort of minecraft clone while it would lose probably all the pixelated appeal from my perspective what makes a 3D version of terraria appealing would be a lot of the bosses, npcs, weapons and lore from Terraria being somewhat similar to witcher 3, skyrim and monster hunter in a action RPG like format. Terrarias lore itself is relatively simple and there's a clear end goal that being reaching and beating the moonlord bringing peace if I had to say if there was a story it would probably be revolved around the Dryad. It would probably take ages for a world to be generated though but knowing how much talented and skillful people there are who would make it work I don't doubt its impossible to make something functional. Terraria could so easily be a 3rd or 1st person fully-fledged action RPG game and I think most people recognize the potential.

as much as i hate to admit it. now adays games are made for higher graphics cards, what i mean by this is that 90% of all new games require the minimum of a 2060 due to a big reason. I currently I'm using a Nvidia rtx 2060 super, which is JUST below a Nvidia rtx 2070, the graphics card is potentially the MOST important part required for gaming. with what you have most games will not run properly. the "big" reason that i was referring to before is because this is also mostly due to the fact that most games are NOT optimized anymore. triple a games are heavily rushed usually and require ridiculous specs because the creators refuse to give their game development studios more time to actually hand craft the games. not sure what you got now 10 months later but all in all your specs are not bad necessary its the game studios themselves refusing to properly manage their games and catering it towards people properly. which is why i believe what gta 5 is doing is correct. they announced that it would release in 2025 which they have definitely been working on it for MANY MANY years and adding a whole year onto their announcement video is exactly what a video game company or studio should be doing. anyways that's my rant about stuff. for those who didn't wanna spend a minute to read I'll sum it up. (his specs are not bad its decent, its the game studios not properly optimizing games anymore as they are too focused on profits.)

Regarding the standalone terraria game in development, I wonder how are they gonna make digging and building work. Terraria might not be as focused on it's blocks as minecraft, but they are still an essential part of the game IMO. Doesn't look like destrictible world can be implemented.

Terraria craft had low frames most likely due to high render distance, the mod doesnt work well when you crank it up so keep it low unless youre out exploring

Ryzen 5 5600x Ryzen 7 3700x Core i5 10500H I tried to find your laptop based on the image you gave + specs (which looks like an acer nitro w/ i5 10300H and 1650 ti) and compared the 10300H to the 3 cpus listed above, which are recommended balanced pairings from different places for the 1650ti. They all are better - I think that the issue with performance for these games is probably your cpu. Seems like a common thing with laptops since mine also has a cpu bottleneck. You could also have a ram bottleneck but I'm not sure on that - but either way, the fact that your laptop struggled with all 3 adaptations led me to check the cpu. I do understand that not everyone has access to a high end computer - I use a 1050 ti + i7 8750H + 16gb ram + 512gb ssd (laptop) and would consider myself lucky to have even that. Just wrote this since I was curious on the fact that all of those adaptations ran poorly on your computer - I ran Terrariacraft a few years ago for a bit and had only minor issues, and that was on a MUCH less powerful computer. I feel like there might be something else wrong other than a cpu/ram bottleneck, possibly coming down to build quality on the laptop? Not sure but something is definitely weird about the performance you got. *I would look into driver/bios updates (or maybe downgrades? my computer has started having trouble with the newest drivers recently) and try to look deeper into other people's issues with the computer that you can find.*

I realized after uploading that the most likely reason the video was so laggy is because I was recording while also maxing out my GPU. Playing the games normally after making the video I realized they run really smooth without recording. I just didn't mention that in the video because I didn't know

Honestly, comparing mods that are built upon a pre-existing good game with a fully fledged out game of its own is really unfair in that specific aspect, because obviously it's gonna be orders of magnitude harder to make the latter and it's most likely not going to run as well.

I played the Terrariacraft mod on my PC, which I know for a fact is weaker than yours. It ran smoothly, with a few lag spikes here and there, but overall, pretty good. Not sure what's with your PC, it shouldn't be running so slowly for yours.

how much ram do you have and is it DDR4 or DDR5?, they had 16 gigs of DDR4 which is a bit slower ram and 16 gigs is a decent amount but not much, if you have more ram or you have DDR5 ram which runs faster it could make a huge difference, another thing is settings and fps cap, if they have a 160fps monitor then its alot easier to see lag spikes when your fps drops below 160 compared to some computers only showing 60 fps so it only shows below 60 fps, and finally cooling, the cooler place and better fans or water cooling you may have can also greatly affect lag spikes because your computer runs its fastest when its cool

A 1650TI is basically the Nvidia equivalent to the RX580 (maybe even stronger), which is a GPU that I've had until recently and can run basically any recently released game on medium to high settings for about 60 and 40 FPS respectively. So yes it can very much run high end games, just not with modern technology like ray tracing or ultra graphics

Not to mention that I didn't even have a good airflow setup. So either your airflow was 10x worse than mine somehow or your GPU was damaged. Also, what a way to compare an RX580 to an 3070, which is in a whole different league of high end GPUs compared to it

@@exoticdachoo007medium settings 40fps is not running high end games. sure it’ll usually boot up, but if you’re dipping in and out of 40 you’re definitely dropping lower and you are 1000% having frame timing issues (that for some reason low refresh rate gamers never seem to be able to notice lol) i played cyberpunk on a water cooled pc with wayyyy better specs than you, optimized settings, in the winter, in an apartment with some of the most amazing airflow you could imagine, and i was getting 50fps in some main areas of the city, in traffic, and in the dlc zone. i get what you’re saying but only people gaming on medium settings 40fps see those stats and go onto the internet to tell other people their card is actually good (it’s not) i owned a 580 and a 1650, both are fucking awful shitty cards that only existed to fill a price bracket. my 570 and my 580 both fell out of line months after release and were some of my most regretted purchases i ever made
