The Race to Save the Last Ash Trees in the Southeast | Sci NC | PBS North Carolina

Tens of millions of ash trees in North America have been destroyed by a beautiful yet invasive beetle called the emerald ash borer. Ash trees are a valuable part of our forests, where they provide habitat to all types of creatures. To help protect the tree from extinction, researchers at NC State have enlisted an old enemy of the emerald ash borer: tiny parasitoid wasps.

The genetic resistant ash tree has already been developed by the US Forest Service at the Northern Research Station in Delaware, OH by Dr. Jennifer Koch. First generation was planted in Detroit 4 years ago.

Can I get me some of those wasps? All my mature ash are gone - but there's some little guys that need a hand. Hurry up with your studies. I loved my ash when they were soaring above me...

Okay so once again were just guessing. And this is different then any other insect imported and released which has caused destruction in what way?
