one way they could help reach net zero is by focusing on bundling the schedule to have the races in the same region back-to-back rather than having them all over the place and back. That way they don't have to ship everything minimalizing the amount of fuel used.

fixing/optimising the calendar and where f1 goes will greatly reduce emissions compared to a more electric-focused f1 car (so we can bring back V8s and make fans happier)

Even if they don't reach net zero by 2030 - which is really ambitious by the way, as long as the sport is trending in the right direction - a win is a win. Aim for the stars and land on the moon type vibes. 🎉

i think big issue is with F1 drivers and chiefs using private jets to travel for the races,which i think should be a bigger concern.

The best to reduce carbon on F1 is that every single country turn down F1. Coming from Singapore commuters perspective, is a hindrance to traffic.

yea, but F1 drivers travel mostly in their private jet plane.

That’s only when there in Europe they fly private.

Chinese milk tea shops are promoting "0-calorie sugar," which is a great marketing gimmick. I am quite concerned that these 0-calorie sugars may still be harmful to people... perhaps even worse than the conventional white sugar previously used.😢

What a marvelous piece of greenwashing. If you happen to be at a track, it will take 10 seconds that the least concern is the environment.

The term "net zero" is absolute nonsense because of the word "net". What this means is that you can burn as much as you like and generate as much CO2 and other green house gases as you like, as long as you can use some form of crazy accountancy to offset the CO2 that you have generated. When in reality the offset to the CO2 will never actually offset the amount of CO2 you generate. It's all just a big accountancy con trick. What you need to do is skip the word "net" and get your emissions to zero, and not "net zero".
@jianh1989
@jianh1989 2 ай бұрын
fact is, there is no "getting your emissions to zero", hence F1 can't escape from the word "net".

You are confusing "net zero" and "carbon neutral." They are not the same thing. Net zero is all about reducing emissions based on a baseline, while carbon neutral is more about offsetting emissions with things like carbon credits. For carbon neutrality, you don’t have to change anything in your operations-you just pay to "cancel out" emissions. F1’s goal is to reduce emissions as much as possible. The only way to truly avoid emissions would be to stop racing altogether! So they’ll eventually need some offsets too since, realistically, anything we do has an impact and no technology is perfect.

Say what you will, I do NOT envy the first woman team principal to join the grid, and I pray for the poor woman who will be the first driver in the series. Hard to find a bigger boys club than f1...

There have actually been women drivers in F1 before! It’s just been quite a while since a woman made it onto the grid.
