The Racing Capital of the World: Speedway, Indiana 5K.

Despite popular belief, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is not located in Indianapolis, technically. It's actually located in the suburb of Speedway. This town is full of racing history. Obviously, the Indy 500 is held here, along with other Indy Car and NASCAR events such as the Brickyard 400. and is a decent town to live in if you're looking to move to the Indianapolis area. The public schools are higher ranked than that of IPS, however there is some crime still within the city limits of Speedway.

Very well done video and narration that really gives the vibe of Speedway and how the town has fully embraced its fascinating history to its advantage. Speedway has come a long positive way since I moved to the Indy metro in 2004. It is well worth a visit even if not attending a race. The racetrack has a great car museum in it as well. Nice touch putting a checkerboard pattern in the video streetsigns ID.

Aww snap, funny Manning intro. I enjoyed it! (and maybe just a little bit true). As a transplanted Hoosier it took me almost 10 years to realize that the Indy 500 was in Speedway, not Indy. As a "Southern Hoosier" I tend to think of basketball as our identity over racing, but given the state of basketball here these days...you might just be right. Great video, really enjoyed it. Ok, gotta get back to breaking into my neighbors' cars 😃

All Hoosiers are proud of their race track, the size of their high school basketball gyms, and the success of their basketball teams (even though neither of the college teams or the Pacers have won squat in recent memory.)

4:52 Interestingly, the distance you drove down Georgetown Rd until this point is exactly the same as the length of the Indy oval circuit, 2.5 miles or just over 4 km.

You could have flown from behind the car wash on Crawfordsville Rd 9:12 and as long as there is no event, you could have flown over the track. You could do some videos in the high end towns in States you visit. That way the future can see how much better or worse it got over time, just an idea not that I would watch it. Those areas are only good for work imho. For a few years Formula1 raced at the track 2000 - 2007 and talks of return. Very comprehensive video on the 3 roads in Speedway :)

I probably could’ve. I called the city of speedway police before heading down there because the laws for Indiana allow local municipalities to create their own ordinances for drones, and the city of speedway is so unclear on the matter. The cop was nice but didn’t know his stuff, was calling the air around Speedway “Class A” airspace, which there is no class A airspace, and the spot charts show that speedway is far enough away from the airport that it wouldn’t matter anyway. It just seemed like one of those situations where an authority figure would try to stop me if he/she saw me even if I’m not breaking any rules, and I’ve seen way too many horror stories over things like that. Regarding making videos on nice places like Carmel and Fishers… yeah I will. People don’t click on those videos so they don’t get recommended as much as others, but I still plan on making them.

@@ChrisHarden No city or municipalities own the airspace but do control the ground that you launch from. If the FAA lets you fly then you can launch from private property given that the owner allows it. Of course there are HOA's that forbid it in some neighborhoods and some private areas have "permanent" temporary no fly zone like Disney. Stay safe and I love your channel.

Still watching the video but anyway my brother used to live in speedway back in the early 90s. I'm not entirely sure where exactly all I remember is he at tennis courts right across from there's a house at is run Tina owned forgot what it was. Missing this video to him and see if you'll comment and let me know exactly what studios on peri I've been to the time trials before I've never been to the actual race.
