What are the pros and cons of living in Indianapolis? Or, the pros and cons of living in your city?

I'm in the process of moving from NYC to Indy and this video was such a breath of fresh air, looking forward to more!

@shenicenuman11172 жыл бұрын
@@saralbruno yes. I do not like Indy. It's totally opposite of life in New York. It's not multicultural in Indy. Rent prices are great in Indy. But everything moves slow. It can take weeks to months to get answers.

I’m looking for a city with small town feel. I’m not thrilled everything is spread apart. Sounds like Houston.

Yea but with that being said on time zones it gets dark at like 5:30 in the winter

It sure does.

That's honestly the worst thing about winter around here. I hate DST.

Hi. Thanks for the video! What are some pros and cons specifically for younger people. I will be moving to Indy this summer. Thanks!
@LivingInIndianapolis4 жыл бұрын
Hey! Honestly, the cons for a younger person would be about the same as they would for anyone. The video covers some of those. Same for the pros but, there’s plenty to do for younger people... Nightlife, bars, coffee shops, great food scene, sports, super hip places to live, great golf courses, plenty of career opportunities... it’s a big city. However, it’s a little unique in that you can find a small town feel in many areas but can also live a big city life in plenty of parts as well.

Ha! I guess that's true! The corn right now is about an inch high so certainly not enough. If you had more corn what would you do with it?

Your Time Zone argument makes so much sense, we really should be on Central Time, New York is almost 1000 miles to the East of us and honestly it's ridiculous that the Northwest corridor of the State once you get past Lafayette is on Central and the other 80% of the State is on Eastern, TBH I wonder if that wasn't done in a way to separate Indy from Chicago, I think for a long long time now Indianapolis has lived in the shadow of Chicago and I wonder if the Politicians that pushed the Time Zone through didn't feel the same way and did it to try and distance Indy in some way from being associated with Chicago
@LivingInIndianapolis4 жыл бұрын
I know there were several variables involved in making the decision to go with Eastern. It's possible some were thinking about the separation from Chicago. I do know many businesses wanted to be on the same time as New York to make life a little easier.

The worst thing I ever did was miss a conference call due to daylight savings and Indiana. I wasn't aware. That sucked. There is a ramshackle place around 65th. Havariti cheese and turkey

Please know that horrible place with the incredible sandwich.

What are your opinion about the small city marion indiana ?
@LivingInIndianapolis4 жыл бұрын
Small town... a little under 30,000 people or so. About an hour from the north side of Indy. I don't have in depth knowledge as I've only been there a couple of times. Indiana Wesleyan University is there which is a nice school. Lake Mississinewa is close by and the city is along the Mississinewa River. Manufacturing (auto, etc) and agriculture are big there. Are you moving to Marion?

How much would it cost to move from somewhere else in the states to Indy?
@LivingInIndianapolis4 жыл бұрын
What specifically are you referring to? Housing, wages, etc? What city do you currently live in?
@orlandoalessandrini25054 жыл бұрын
@@LivingInIndianapolis thanks for the reply. I'm in Miami. I was referring to things like securing housing, setting up utilities, car insurance plus having a bit of a cash cushion for say..maybe a month?
@LivingInIndianapolis4 жыл бұрын
I would imagine the cost of living is more in Miami. I have a specific video regarding the cost of living in Indianapolis. It does cover utilities, housing, insurance, etc if you'd like to check that out. Hopefully it helps. I will say the housing in certain areas here has been competitive for quite some time due to the lower inventory. Rentals have been the same. Most reasonably priced homes and condos tend to go fairly fast. Let me know if that cost of living video covers your questions! livinginindianapolis.video/CostofLiving
