Interesting timing. I actually purchased the Raddy RF760 last week. My motivation for purchasing it was for use as a small field testing component for my QDX. Since it does SSB, I can verify the audio output on any of the amateur radio bands. Having a general purpose, small footprint shortwave radio is a nice bonus. Does the RF320 support SSB?

I changed the Antenna out, on the Raddy RF-760 with a better one!! and now works a lot better!!! But of course the Ssb does not work !!! But we will see about this other radio down the road!!

Hi! The RF320 does not support SSB. We do get a lot of feedback on the SSB and we are working on one in the near future. Stay tuned!

A part of me really wants one of these as a functional desk ornament, but no SSB makes HF pretty useless. I know SSB takes effort for a station to work. Maybe some day they’ll make a new one for a little more with SSB, since there’s a dozen variations out there already.

exactly, I almost place order, then I found a radio at this price has no ssb, immediately canceled. This radio is OEMed by Hanrongda, and this company's product segregation skill is as precise as Nvidia.

Fun little radio, setting it up now. Tip to all who watch these videos but they never touch on it (or barely if they do): I set here for fifteen minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Reading the manual helps (but I'm not a girl) so I took a gander at the OTHER manual regarding the app specifically INSTEAD of the users manual (they send two): DOWNLOAD THE APP AND PAIR THE RADIO TO YOUR PHONE FIRST!!!!!!!!! Then turn it on with the app on your phone and away you go with your manly status still in tact. Why they don't spell it out with fat crayons is beyond me.

Not an android person, but I'm pretty sure iOS considers parts of Wifi to be within the realm of location services since you could theoretically discern location from other devices on the network. Might be that Android doesn't want to let apps snoop on Bluetooth devices to figure out where you are or something.

Thank you for doing a review on this shortwave radio. I like the look / design of it, however the build quality appears cheaply made. The Bluetooth app is cool. Does it have a language selection? IMHO a decent attempt, however I personally feel it's a little overpriced at $89.99 USD for what I'm seeing here. I'd be a buyer at $40-$50 max but not at $90.00.

I like the fact also it has a Torch in it or as you call them flashlight, always handy if you have to find something in the dark or when the power fails or something.,

The "Location" permission is because the app could use whatever it detects to determine your location. It seems unrelated, but it's actually warning you that the app definitely can figure out where you are.

The antenna would be the issue, the shorter the antenna, the worse the reception. So "fine" outside of that issue and the problems it causes.

You're missing out on listening to some ham and CB conversations. You'll still be able to hear broadcast radio on MW bands. Since my audience is mostly hams I had to point out the SSB thing.

No, airband is AM. You need the intermod for added safety. Most FM/Digital modes have a frequency capture effect that makes it unlikely that a 2nd signal can break into an active transmission.

All of my Mp3 files are HQ with no square waves. What info is displayed on the screen when playing Mp3 music? Time of the file, elapsed time, file name or ID3 tagged title, file number etc... I have thousands of square wave free Mp3 files. Also can it do file number access for direct file number?

Its better than some others in SW coverage, but still doesn't cover the complete SW frequency range 1710KHz-30MHz so you completely miss out on CB and a few others. And no SSB is a complete deal breaker for me. I guess you can just inject a tone into the radio from a NanoVNA to be able to hear people talking on SSB, but thats definitely not a perfect solution.

I am no radio expert, however I have a question or 2. Could this be used as a small radio for SHTF situations ( I am a home based Prepper), also could the extended wire aerial be used in a loft/attic hung off the A-frame apex or even hung off a tree, etc to increase range, etc.

Yes, this radio could be used for that and the antenna could be used that way. For a true survival radio, I'd want single side band listening ability and the ability to transmit.

I'll stick my Tecsun PL-368 or my little Eton Elite Executive for SSB for traveling for now or, even better, an Android app with fantastic webSDR functionally, pRxTx Pro v3.3 and gives me a full hardware based SDR interface if needed. @@STR82DVD this whole thing is a "radio on a chip", why can't it be fixed in software? It's just signal processing to the chip and it's progrsmming. This isn't the old days where it needed hardware and filters that didn't exist.
