I learned as much as I could with an APEX VR70 fpv drone that came with a radio and goggles. That was my "simulator". After that I was going to get one of the EMAX kits for nearly $300. So I decided to see what I could get for that money if I bought separate components. I ended up getting a Pocket, Fat Shark Scout goggles and a Mobula8 analog ELRS. That came to about $360. Batteries and a B6 charger and a few other bits and bobs brought me to about $450. The batteries should be here in a couple days and the weather should be clear by then. I can't wait to get it in the air!! I've learned a ton from your videos Captain Drone. Thanks for your service. lol

Great! Now keep in mind that myself and most everyone else you see flying FPV drones started like you. We all pulled our hair out getting things to work together and we crashed often and broke things, but we kept at it to arrive to where we are today. It is very rewarding. Happy Flying!

@Captain Drone. Since this is an entry level radio for those new into FVP and one's first radio. Don't you think that you should have mentioned that not all 18650 batteries will not work in this radio? I bought this radio from Rotor Riot and since iy did not come with batteries. I went to my local battery store and bought 2, however these did not fit the unit because they were protected and are longer than the unprotected that should have been bought. Maybe you didn't know that there were different 18650's? not any of the reviews mentioned this... So if youre on a budget make sure that you get the correct 18650's regards, JAM in Fort Wayne IN

The unfortunate thing is that i assume people know their batteries as 18650 batteries have been around in so many flashlights and vape machines for so very long. Protected batteries of any type are EXPENSIVE compared to non-protected and not super common, and are not used in the RC HOBBY for the simple reason you never want a battery turning itself off. Also, if I post a link to an 18650 battery, other than what is sold on the manufacturer of the radios site, I simple tell google to link to an 1865O battery that I see on my end in Canada. Sometimes Goggle will link to other brands and types depending on the country you live in.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I understand your point, however the only batteries that I have used in the past are AA, AAA C and D and the occasion button battery along with rechargeable batteries in my iPhone or other cell phone, This is my first real experience with remote control devices. I have no experience with high end flash lights or vape machine. In the past when I bought a battery with a number or letters on it they have alway fit. You could imagine my surprise when the 18650 did not fit into this entry level radio. Out of all the videos that I watched no-one mention that we should use unprotected 18650, not even the maker. it would have been nice, since this radio is an entry level. That this would have be mention just like the fact that there are two versions ELRS and CC2500. I guess you live you learn... Regards JAM in Fort Wayne IN.

Hi, I sold all my drones last year, kept my Tello drones and the Dronemask. I know you have Tello and the FPV app. This app, unlike the original, allows wired connection to the controller. I use another gamesir with otg cable wired in PC mode and is awesome. (400m range, no lag, smooth video transmission). For simulator I use the freerider FPV app, but not on PC, I use the android app with the same setup and is fully compatible. There's an option for centered game Controller or regular controller. Now I have a very unusual question. I know, that you have a radiomaster Pocket. Can you please connect the radiomaster to yout Smartphone running the Tello FPV app / freerider app with cable? In Theory the simulator should work, but not sure the Tello app, can be only compatibe with xbox/ps controllers. Thanks and greetings from Europe.

@@reviewmirror Go to the Radiomaster website, then support, then downloads, then firmware. If you don’t see pocket, then take the firmware for ELRS boxer. Stick it on a micro SD card. Voice files are usually separate and go in the specific directory. It is a bandaid solution until the pocket files show up but it should work.

Nope. ELRS transmitters (like what is in your Pocket) only connect to ELRS Receivers. If you have an older Tinyhawk 2 freestyle then it has a D8 receiver. If yours is newer and has an ELRS receiver then it will only bind if it is on the same firmware as your ELRS radio.

Thx for the detailed video. I'm looking for a controller I can charge w/ USB c and use for flight sims when volunteering at schools. I see it has batteries, will they charge when plugged into the laptop sim. Teachers also need easy plug-in to use in the classroom, where it recognizes that controller without special programming w/ DRL or Liftoff. Would you recommend zoro or pocketmaster or another manuf/model? Also ELRS or CC2500 for teachers in the sim?

Radios rarely come with batteries. Batteries are not included with the Pocket. When there are batteries in it, then you charge via USB charger (like the one for your laptop or phone).

When it comes to RADIOS you select by MODES (not region). So if you are used to having the THROTTLE joystick on the LEFT you select MODE 2. As for CC2500 that pretty much means it binds with D8 and D16 receivers, and some by FLYSKY and FRSKY.

So I’m thinking about purchasing the Efligjt viper 70mm which recommends a 6S battery 3200 MAH/ 4000 MAH… Could I run that plane on a 4S 3800mah and work my way up to 6s ?? I was also thinking about purchasing the Avante 70mm, so the same question applies to the Avante. Should I run that on a 4S and work my way up to 6S ??? Out of these two planes, which one would you recommend for a beginner , is either one easier to fly than the other ??? No I know about do you have a STS 70 mm or Thee Habu super sport 70 mm but I could get the E flight 70mm BNF for $400 Canadian in a sealed box , so obviously that would mean it’s in perfect condition.. I think that’s a amazing deal.. Not factoring money into the equation which one is easier to fly. Would you think? Viper 70mm or Avante 70mm and remember I’m a beginner who will spend all of the winter on Real flight 9.5 or Real flight Evolution before flying either of the 2 jets.. Actually, out of these two flight simulators which one would you think I should go with? Or maybe you have a different suggestion for a simulator or even a different edf jet.. @@TedMassis I have flown all of those planes. No you can’t begin with 4s. As look as the eFlite has SAFE then it is easier to fly. The FMS would need to have REFLEX to be easier to fly. I don’t recommend any of these for first time pilots. I flew them all after I had already been flying prop planes for a month. I did not fly them well but also I didn’t crash them (back then). EDF jets are scary on landings for people not sufficiently experienced.

Here is my question. I have some BetaFPV ELRS mini 2.4 quads and I am in the process of setting up the Pavo Pico. Up to this point, I have mostly bought "kits" with radios included. Using the BeataFPV lite radio and want to upgrade. Is this radio a bind and fly? Every time I have had to go to Beta Flight, I end up bricking or else making it un-usuable. I am waiting for more setups like Speedy Bee that use an all to set up quads instead of Beta Flight. Can I just bind my Pico to the Pocket and go fly?

i saw another review that said I believe the sticks are milled for 2mm stick ends so most standard wont fit but DJI custom ends will. I am not 100% on this but I think thats what I saw.

For tanks you’d normally want a radio with the most switches and often a 4-in-1 transmitter due to the receiver in the tank. The pocket’s selling feature is portability.

Hierzu müsste man sich an RADIO MASTER wenden. Die meisten Standardinformationen werden auf der MICRO-SD-Karte gespeichert, Sie benötigen also nur die Dateien, die auf der MICRO-SD-Karte gespeichert sind.

Old BetaFPV drones may not connect because a standard protocol was not used. If they do connect it would probably be a D8 receiver.

That is a strange question. Are you new to the RC hobby? This is an ELRS transmitter which means long range communication that is very advanced. Transmitters are not looked upon as Analog or Digital because range & latency is based on the protocol used, in this case ELRS at 2.4 ghz which can get you up to 30 Km range.

I’d say, based on 250 mw, and the radio antenna, in most areas it would be several miles (two/three for everyday use). Much more if the receiver on the drone being used had a great antenna
