THE RAFT! FLOATING ALTERRA RESEARCH BASE!!! (Subnautica base tour)

After past expeditions to planet 4546B proving to be successful Alterra sends a new floating main base of operations to the area. This base codenamed "The Raft" is designed to house a crew of 5 and float independently on top of the waters surface. This way the base is easily accessible and out of danger of any hostile wildlife.

Idk what it is about your base tour videos, but they keep reminding me of other horror/ suspense movies with a Subnautica twist. This one reminds me of that space horror movie Life. I’ve got more ideas I’ll put them under this comment.

So originally my thoughts went to a scenario where the station is attacked by something, probably a reaper, and the crew had a set amount of time before the place goes under. Which I’ve only just realized almost perfectly mirrors the ancient sea dragon crisis that happened to the precursors😅. Anyway like I said earlier, It also reminds me of the movie Life. The summary is; a group a scientist discovers an ET, it’s a small organism that responds to stimulus. Eventually it attacks and slowly becomes larger each time it gets a crewmate. They realize that if it gets to earth it would be unstoppable, so they have to try and kill it. Definitely recommend watch it. Anywho, on the last video I left a comment with an idea for a suspense plot around that base. In the comment I mention at the end that Altera might try to genetically modify sea dragons for export. The scientists would do so to potentially create better medicine or food and the CEO’s would see it as a way to make more money. So the thought of a modified sea dragon infant tearing its way through a floating research station is rolling around my noggin rn. I don’t yet have a fully thought out plot for this yet, but when I do I’ll be back!

That’s so cool that you can connect aquariums on different floors with those holes in the ceiling. How many floors can you stack an aquarium like that?

I found out by accident. Base pieces no longer need to be connected to terrain so long as the original piece is/was.

@@permakiller3698 They mean they're opting into experimental betas for Subnautica. You can do this in the properties of the game on Steam. One of the options is experimental builds, which will update your game with beta builds with new features (and a lot of the time bugs...). So we'll no doubt get a mainline update soon which will add the rooms in proper.
