This was such a good review, I agree with lots of your thoughts - I liked this book but I didn't absolutely love it and didn't really like Tao although I don't know if I just don't like miltary fantasy (but I do love the dragon republic...). I also though the female characters could have done with some more development/screen time. I also loved the short chapters though haha
@BookswithBrittany4 жыл бұрын
You're so right...we could have definitely used some more female page time! I'm not sure if Tao was supposed to be unlikable, but he just didn't give with me.

I remember chatting about this with you! It’s so interesting that I agreed with so many things with your review, yet didn’t enjoy it at all 😅 I’m so glad you did though. Hopefully you love the sequel 💕

Since I’ve made this review I’m not sure I’m even going to continue anymore 🙈 I’ve heard from a few people that he gets better in the sequel later on, but not sure I want to go through it.

Books with Brittany ahhh, well I don’t blame you either way! I was hoping the second one would be more worldbuilding, but I’ve been seeing that it’s a lot of action and revenge again 🙈

Elliot Brooks oh boy, yeah it’s definitely not high on my priority list! I’m more anxious for The Trouble with Peace!

Awesome review!! You made me bump up Rage of Dragons on my TBR. I was wondering tho, is it one of those books that's so good that you would read the sequel right after? I'm thinking if it's that good, I'd rather wait until July before I start reading.
@BookswithBrittany4 жыл бұрын
I've heard some people say they will have a hard time waiting for the sequel, but I tend to leave time in between sequels anyways. So i'm not much help🙈

@@BookswithBrittany thanks for the help, I'll wait for the sequel. I love spending extended periods of time in the same world if it's a good book. By the sounds of your review it'll probably be good enough.

I read this about a month ago and really really, enjoyed it, and was so disappointed when it ended because I was so invested in the story that I wanted to keep reading. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Me too! I have to check to see when it comes out!

@@BookswithBrittany I believe it's expected out in September. I was hoping that due to current conditions some books would come out sooner, such as the second book in Rage of Dragons, and the fourth book in the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson! Are you a Sanderson fan? Have you read the Stormlight Archive? I think it's amazing! Love the characters "Bridge Four"!

@@BookswithBrittany Just watched Evan Winter on the reveal of the cover for book 2 "The Fires of Vengeance" on Daniel Greene's channel and the release date is November 10th.

This is a "bad hair day". Okay... yeah, I hate the trope of somebody not sleeping to do something and they're the best. It absolutely does not work like that and I hate the idea because I feel like it gives people the wrong idea about how important sleep really is. I'm right there with you. I gave it 4 stars but yeah, I loved it.

I'm so glad someone gets what I was saying. I think my expectations were just a bit too high. But overall, it was GREAT!

I am a huge and longtime fan of dragons and the fantasy genre. Should I give this book a chance?
@BookswithBrittany4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, dragons don’t play a large role in the book. It was still enjoyable though.

I think the point of the skirmishes is to show the stupidity of the caste system and how it's used to reinforce the societal norms.
@BookswithBrittany4 жыл бұрын
I can definitely see that. It was just a little drawn out in my opinion. But still very well done!

The book is definitely not for everyone but it's so good to see a main character that works so hard and brings himself to the edge of dead just because of how committed he is. I thought that having such bland and one dimensional characters was going to be bothersome but it was so addicting. My complaint is that all the women are kind of... Secondary even when they're the most powerful
@BookswithBrittany4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with the part you mentioned about the women. I would have loved more from their perspective!
