I want you to watch the The Raid 1 with its original Indonesian score, and do a video on that. Nobody else has touched on it. It gives it a completely different vibe, less technopunk and more horror which is what Evans was originally going for. And if you were to do a rearranged soundtrack, which scenes go best with the American version's score for that scene and which scenes go best with the Indonesian score for that scene. Would love if you covered this in a video.

The Raid's IMDB rating used to be higher. Something around 7.9 to 8.1. With the sequel The Raid 2 being a decimal point lower IIRC which is now 8.0 compared to the first's 7.6. I'm guessing a lot of casuals and dweebs watched the first film and decided to give it super low scores because they just don't get it. That f'd up the average.

Gareth Evans has spoken about this a few times, he has explained he had ideas for a 3rd movie that never panned out and that he feels its passed its time to happen, so don't place your hopes on it, he has moved onto other projects now (this interview is the most recent I could find - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqDFdJydnqmbeck )I would highly recommend Gangs of London though if you want more Gareth Evans action.

I used to think he was overrated, but then I watched some other “good” Indonesian action films that had the same team and actors from The Raid duology, which he didn’t direct. They were pretty bad. They had some contact in fights, but I can’t explain how much worse they were

If you want another Indonesian action film with some of The Raid cast in it that I think is quite good I recommend The Night Comes for Us. But yes, Gareth Evans does have a particular style that just elevates the action.
