How do I slow down the speed of this book? It’s read far to fast for my 7 and 5 years old children. Any advice?
@carolynchan94764 жыл бұрын
You can do this by following these steps - 1. Click the menu button (the three vertical dots in the upper right corner), 2. Click the "Playback Speed" option, and 3. Select one of the speeds less than 1x
@mosart70253 жыл бұрын
Or go to the little gear cog (the setting button) on the lower right (where you would enlarge the screen). Click on the gear, click on playback speed. There will be a list of predetermined speeds, but up in the right corner of the box it says custom. If you click on custom you can do any speed. I usually put it at -.90 for this reader, so it's 10% slower. For kids you might want to try -.85.

Just read the old lore about taunting bargemen with "who ate puppy pie"? Near Marlow Bridge in the village the story goes that a tavern owner heard of a raid certain bargemen were planning on his pantry. So he baked a litter of drowned puppies (how people used to deal with unwanted animals) into pie and left them as bait, and the pie was indeed stolen and eaten by, he supposed, bargemen. So it became an insult particular to them, calling them thieves and in general unsavory folk.

SHAMEFULLY looking the gift horse in the mouth, but... I've clicked all that came up and can't find another reader. Savage's voice is very beautiful, but she ain't from Texas. Can only understand 2 out of every third word, and audiobooks never have subtitles, for reasons I cannot fathom. :::Sigh::: This book is sadly not an option for me. Thumb's up anyway - was nobody's fault. If anyone knows of another video with a different reader I would be grateful!
@user39h2j8il4 жыл бұрын
You. Can't.be serious!!!! 1. It's an English book. It would lose all its charm read in a yank accent. 2. Karen Savage does a *sterling* job on all her readings. She's the only person I can listen to. The rest are horrendous, with a deep south American twang and drawl that irritates me no end, or a horrible whiney, sing song South African accent which sounds like its more for 3 year olds. Ugh. I've deleted downloads because of the horrendous accents. Btw, Karen Savage also reads Canadian authored books such as Anne of Green Gables etc in a very pleasant American accent. She's multi-accented 😂 not many people can pull that off convincingly.

@@user39h2j8il Oh my! I do apologize that my cochlear damage ( the one that makes accents I’m not deeply familiar with very difficult to understand, as my brain can’t input the missing sounds to form words that I can understand ) SO offends you!! Oh, and I DO apologize for not having your exact opinion, and I’m SO grateful that you could take the time to judge me and find that I am so very beneath you for having the audacity to ask for assistance in this public arena. Upon reading what I said, (has been a while), I can see how extremely rude I was in the request. But I’m sure your comfort lies in your superiority, where you are absolutely convinced that your own personal preferences and standpoints concerning such concrete subjects - like literature - and how it’s read aloud, must be held by all. Mind = Shut No need for other opinions in this world - we shall all bow to yours.
@mrsleysclass10123 жыл бұрын
Oh, and the disparaging of entire swaths of peoples for their voices/accents - yeah, that's really cool of you. Divisiveness is such a pleasant aura to bask in...
