That adapter on the Volvo oil pan is like a check valve. You take the cap off and screw on another adapter that has a short hose on it. There is a spring or rod on this adapter that opens the valve as you screw it on. Much easier way to change oil. I added this to all of my vehicles. Buy long funnels and add a piece of hose on them. I have some tractors that are like your GMC.

I used to work for 4 brothers that had 4 quad milk trucks and a semi and they changed their own tires and would even "flip" the tires on the rim to keep the wear even. They did it all by hand, and had a cage to put the tire in when airing it up. They did a lot of tire changing. They also did their own oil changes and greasing along with brake adjustment and occasionally change a spring pack. They bought their oil and grease by the barrel.

Hi Mike I really love your channel. Nice videos. I notice that you dont really clean the tracks and under the machines. Whilst i understand they will probably get messed up at the next job site its good to sweat the pressure cleaner a bit and give the whole machine a nice clean up to the next job site. Even the excevators need a good clean every 2 weeks. You have good machines reserve 2 days a month where possible to give them a good clean up. Aa you said when you take care of your machines other people will do same i agree 100%.

Maintenance is SO MUCH less expensive than BREAK DOWN! Smart! Know what? Most all your equipment has cloth (fabric) interior seats. Suggestion! Pick up a can or two of SCOTCH GUARD and spray the fabric. This will keep the dirt from sinking in. You could actually POUR a PEPSI on the seat and watch it roll right off. Just a thought for you.! Sonny (CT) I'm back. You know @ 39:48 rather than hammer those bearings back in, you could have turned them sideways in that vise you used and the socket and "Pressed" them in. (just sayin - never complainin!)! And AARON, nice work as always and if you want things to go a lot easier for you, don't forget to always say, "SIMON SAYS"!!!

Funnel with a piece of garden hose works very well and u don't have to fight it. That's how we did my dads oil. So how much oil the Volvo take? U never said lol lol. Grab it all the right way makes the work easier. U should try the funnel and garden hose and tell me how u like it. The Emery cloth may hurt. But the grease won't. Lol lol Should have done the whole thing lol lol. Have a great day DP.

Why dont you get a transmission funnel and a piece of 3/4 heater hose about 2 feet long, slide it on the funnel. I cut the bottom of the funnel off on mine so the opening was bigger and oil flowed faster. You could even engineer a bracket to hold the top of the funnel also. Makes changing/adding oil a lot easier on difficult to reach engines and transmissions.

Those solid rims make it so much safter to change tires. I hated those split three piece split rims. Seen many tire cages sacrifice themselves to contain a catastrophic failure while airing up a tire. I especially hated the split rims with the hollow centers that required the wedges to secure the rim to the hub. It took more time to adjust the wedges so the tire assembly didn't wobble than it took to change out the tire!

3 foot length of garden hose and a funnel to fill the oil into the GMC. Looks like 5 gallon bucket would work fine as catch pan under the Volvo. I use a 5 gallon bucket with 2/3 of the top cut off as a catch pan for changing the oil on my car.
@BlueDually4x44 жыл бұрын
If you had an oil tank set up like dealers or large mechanic shops you don't need a funnel, just stick the hose from the fill pump in there and squeeze the trigger. We had fancy ones at the trash company I used to work at that you could set to how much oil to put in the truck and they auto shut off. Does look like you could use some larger drain pans, one shop I was at had a big square one on wheels held 15-18 gallons. Granted it takes two guys to empty it but it sure was handy.
