I love my Rainbow-I inherited it from my grandparents...it's from the 1960s and it still works and I had it serviced in 2022. That thing is older than me!! ❤

I have a Rainbow and it does clean very well. But, I find it very inconvenient to use. I have to take it apart, add water, put it back together then haul that thing around the house. It is like pulling a shop-vac around the house. We honestly got to where we would rarely vacuum the house because we did not feel like hassling with the Rainbow. We went out and bought a cordless stick vacuum and we love the convenience of it. When we finish using it, we charge the battery to it is ready the next time. And there is no cord to get caught on everything. We just grab the cordless stick vacuum and start cleaning. We might take out the Rainbow once a year now to do a good vacuuming.

I kind of do a similar thing! I have a Dyson stick vac for quick clean ups. Problem is it only lasts for 13 minutes so can’t do big vacuum jobs! I also find the batteries don’t last very long. Had to replace one already that is less than 5 years old! I find the rainbow does a way better job of ‘sucking’ lol! Way more powerful. My Dyson is now close to the end of its life. My power head no longer works so it really just works as a dust buster now. I take out the rainbow more frequently because it does such a great job. I do find it is quite heavy though with the water.

@@happywife1234 I have several Ryobi cordless tools so I bought the Ryobi stick vacuum. It and all of their tools use the same 18v batteries, which come in different sizes. I could not quit vacuum the entire house with the 4ah battery that came with the stick vacuum. I swapped it for their slightly larger 6ah battery that I have and now the vacuum runs for 45 to 50 minutes. I easily vacuum the entire house on one charge. The Rainbow is more powerful and does clean better, but as I mentioned it is so inconvenient to use that we dreaded having to vacuum the house with it. When we bought our house, the previous owners did not want their Rainbow so they left it, so we got ours free. Based on the cost and the bulky size of the Rainbow, I would never buy one myself. We just own one because it was given to use free. After using my stick vacuum for a year, I will never buy anything but these stick vacuums from now on. They are incredibly convenient and easy to use.

Great tips in your comment, thank you! I’m always amazed how much of a difference it makes after cleaning! After all the comments I’ve received on this video, I now make sure to only dump the liquid. Everything else goes in the garbage! It’s mostly hair and dust that I pick up! It’s amazing how much comes out of your carpets! Thanks for the comment! 😊

I have the model before this one, most people call it the E2 black. It's a fairly powerful machine with most of the features of the SRX like the self-docking wands, the power nozzle with the edge brushes, most of the accessories for the SRX are there, the hard floor washer, carpet extractor power head and one item you didn't show which was the spot cleaner/upholstery/stair extractor. There are other optional accessories that Rexair has for the Rainbow like longer wands, other lengths and types of hoses up to 30 feet in length for doing some hard to reach areas and stairs, a mini-squeegee accessory for the upholstery tool and even a sprayer. That Rainbow E2 that you were comparing to the SRX will probably perform fine if you do some refurbishment like getting the main unit cleaned and replace any damaged parts like the vacuum fans as I could see the one on the bottom after the separator looked fairly corroded. There are parts available back into the D series Rainbows still, but the D parts are drying up, so to speak. E series parts are still available and plentiful so there shouldn't be too much of an issue there. I've grown up with and owned Rainbows for all of my life, starting with the D4 my parents bought in the mid-80s and I have owned D4s, D4 SEs and my E2 black that I use quite a bit as my main Rainbow.

i always use an old strainer with a very fine mesh/net. i put on toilet bowl and poor everything in it. then i let it sit to let drip all the water down and take out the junk with a toilet paper and throw it in the trash. also when you might have vacuumed something you don't wanna lose, like coins or necklace which accidently was sucked up, you catch it and can clean it up. also with glass and other sharp and larger items you don't want them to end up clogging the toilet.. i have my E2 23P since 2010 and still use it twice a week at least, i have 1 dog and mostly laminate floors besides 2 carpet squares and i always do them with the carpet cleaner (on air i mean not with water as i dont have an aquamate) and it works fine for me. i dust everything with the small round hairy sucker as you showed in the video, works great, no stripes. and also the dog gets its short hair brushed with the rainbow now and then, she loves it , goes to sit right up for her massage ;) every time just clean the bowl out, its just part of the routine. i don't mind the weight, cause mine has wheels ?? yours don't or what?? is a bit weird. sure i don't have stairs so that's the difference maybe, if we cleaned at my moms, which had hers d4 from 1992 or so i think, she now as also a srx. but we took off the wheels, so the bowl stays connected and so you can place it on the stairs to drag it with you while cleaning the steps. greetings from holland

its a cool unit for sure and the tilt head is nice. however, the old E-series had a bigger water pan and was able to take 4 quart pan for lager cleaning jobs. The older unit also had 80 inches of water lift (aka Suction) the new SRX one has about 60 at best. So it's actually less powerful despite rainbows claims. the new unit only has one fan whereas the previous models had two fans. Also the circuit controller board for the motors have been very problematic hence the huge recall Rexair had to issue due to fires and burns. And the first generation power nozzle has issues with housing melting where the brush roller sat. So Rexair actually went back to the previous models power nozzle from the E2 black series which had the spinning side brushes. There's dozens of videos proving all of this and the predecessor E2 Black was actually the far superior rainbow. Hopefully rexair will take all the great new features of the SRX but make the nest model truly more powerful and more reliable.

I called my local rainbow and bought one new in 2006 without a demo...still have it... still take care of it... love it... I've always been a fan of rainbows until the SRX...While they did some improvements with the SRX...one glaring thing they did is take away some power and made the water basin smaller.... I hope with the next model they address a lot of these things. I think the black rainbow was their best model... with the blue and gold being a close second
@WJCTechyman5 ай бұрын
@garrettdodson6110 You forgot to mention that the SRX actually has quite a bit more airflow, roughly 25-30% more than the Black. So, Rexair's claims are somewhat true. Water lift isn't really as needed unless you are running a water well. Yes, it has had its issues, but the way I see it, Rexair has responded to those issues and removed things that people didn't necessarily buy like the expanded capacity basin and it isn't really needed considering the AquaMate only holds about 1/2 gallon (roughly 2 L) worth of water for the cleaning process and the RainJet and Mini Jet each hold about a litre as well. Once upon a time, Rexair used to make some really big water pans at about 2.5 gallons, were made of spun aluminum for the D series machines but not many people who bought those Rainbows used that much either. There was a recall, yes, but that has been addressed. Recalls happen on a lot of things and typically get resolved. The Rainbow didn't have as big of a recall as say Honda's mower line with a newer engine design but both did the recall and acknowledged that it happened. I'll tell you, I would take a Rainbow SRX over a Miele or Sebo anyday if someone offered them for the same price. Heck, I would take an SRX over the other two because of the expense of maintenance and consumables of the other two. That being said, some of the features that you can get with the E2 black versus the SRX are the reason I wouldn't be upgrading anytime soon. My E2 Black has everything I want out of a Rainbow as I have all three wet pickup attachments, both versions of the RainbowMate mini power nozzle, self-docking wands, two of both lengths, the spinny side brush power nozzle and some other things that aren't necessary for a Rainbow these days but I have them for convenience like the regular, non-electric hose in 8 and 14 foot lenghts, and the 14 foot electric one as well. At some point I want to upgrade my power nozzle to the side belt version as mine still uses the centre belt. Most likely it will be coming in SRX blue as that's how they're currently sold. EDIT: It appears that this reply isn't going where I want it to go. KZbin seems to have changed something in its code that is causing these problems. Not surprising, KZbin has really gone down hill.

@happywife1234 If you don't have a place to dump it, getting a cheap colander to strain out the nasties before dumping into the toilet is a good option. Since most of that stuff is hair and potentially carpet fibre, just wring it out with your hands and put it in your garbage. If you're not comfortable doing that, wear gloves. Better to wash your hands than breathing it, that's one of the things I like about the Rainbow. EDIT: It appears that this reply isn't going where I want it to go. KZbin seems to have changed something in its code that is causing these problems. Not surprising, KZbin has really gone down hill.

@@WJCTechyman Not sure you meant it to go here... but it sounds like it... I read it all... It's amazing how new a rainbow will look after years if u just take care of it... anything really... If you looked at my gold 2 speed... it almost looks like it came out of the box not long ago. I've held back from upgrading over the years because it still does what I want it to do.. One of my favorite things is I bought the 14 foot non-electric hose.. I attached the curved wand to that... and I can clean all overt he freaking place.. I wonder if someone has actually TESTED the 30% more airflow claim? Anyway I know they did address the power nozzle... I think there were still some leaks in the wand they could have fixed.. I saw the new Delphin from Germany and it's similar to the SRX but it looks even more advanced in that the separator pulls off... no twisting... I think rainbow's next model will have something like that
