Lovely dress Ruan and a very thorough review. I don’t know how I missed this vlog. I have a fear of zips and yet I have done them successfully in the past. As soon as you said that the zip can be omitted I thought I’d like to make this dress! I don’t think I’ve ever liked zips and only started doing invisible ones a few years ago when I came back to sewing. 😊

So glad I have found your channel. I've just purchased this pattern and always struggle on sizing. By the pattern advice I would be a size 12 but I am going to risk it and size down. I am normally between sizes 12-14. 12 on top and 14 on the waist. Measurements really throw me into a panic. I've made so many things and got them wrong !! Wish me luck. That is such a beautiful dress, a very flattering shape. With those darts you haven't even cut any rainbows in half! Love the fabric. I have some of their viscose which is a bit weightier, which I much prefer. I wouldn't even change those darts the difference is so minimal 😉. Xx

Hi Ruan, I just love all of your videos , they are such fun! My mum was from Sheffield and I think you're all a bit mad ;) I love Tessuti and actually went to their shop in Sydney this week, it was awesome. I totally missed this pattern, but now I want it! It really suits you and looks so comfortable to wear. I agree with their sizing... I am a 14-16 (same sizing as UK) and am shocked that they think that's big enough! In Australia a lot of women are around that size, so I don't know what they're thinking. Keep up the good work and keep smiling xx

I fall into the same retail size as you; I will make a straight 14 and add 3" to the length. Hi Ruan, love the dress, it looks fabulous. I'm really loving Tessutti patterns myself at the moment and have a couple more planned. I've looked at this pattern for myself but don't know if I have quite the right physique for it. Funny you saying about the bust darts being in the wrong place for you but no one else should/would notice... I wore a dress today for the first time since I made it and realised the bust darts are actually out on me but, like you, I don't think it matters. I only noticed because I went looking for them, the fabric is very busy (actually! It's the Dhalia Sewciety Moulin Rouge fabric I saw you unboxing) so I'm very sure no one will notice and I think the dress sits fine on my bust. Let's not get overly fusspotty with our work, eh?

I love the Lois dress and when you showed it for a possible make I dove head first into Tessuiti patterns, only to be disappointed! No way would I fit in their patterns and I love many of the styles! It's so sad that us fluffy gals can't enjoy them too without having a degree in math to figure out the extended enlargements needing to be made! You know, like the zipper you don't really need those cuffs on the armsye! Extend the arm the width of the cuff to get the length and don't worry about adding them again! lol

This dress fits you so well, beautiful job! I also skiped the zipper, sized down and cut 2cm from the top seam of the bodice (my boobs are small). I wanted to take a break from all of these lose fitting dresses and found that this one was a good option 😄

Just to be sure, if I'm not sure how a pattern fits, depending on sizing, I always measure the pattern pieces, add them together (bust pieces etc), take into consideration the seam allowance and then use those measurements to calculate the fit. I just generally don't trust what the pattern instructions are telling me.

Talking about inclusive size ranges. I’m lucky enough in that I’m similar dimensions to you (but shorter, older and saggier), so size inclusivity isn’t an issue for me personally. But I’m not sure that just making all patterns size inclusive is the way forward. A lot of patterns that are my size would look blooming awful on me. Some patterns are so well designed they look good on most people, so it’s good to see a wide size range on those. However , we need more pattern companies like Cashmerette (I’m sure I’ve spelt that wrong) whose patterns are specifically designed for curvier bodies. All ladies should have access to a good range of patterns designed to flatter their body. Your comments about darts being in the right place did make me chuckle. Am I the only one, now that I have learned where darts should be placed, of critiquing the clothes worn by people fronting TV shows? (When I say critiquing, I mean just in my own head…I wouldn’t dream of posting anything so nasty). Love the dress!

Yes I totally agree with you. Making patterns size inclusive means using a different body block to make the pattern, not just extending the size. Cashmerette are amazing aren’t they! And no…you’re not the only one that does that 🤪

I know what you mean but you have at least 1cm of fabric so it’s not too close to the tip of the dart (if that makes sense) 👍🏼
